Buy a Nissan Frontier If You Hate Driver-Assistance Features
With technology constantly advancing, many auto manufacturers are using this technology to equip its vehicles with some of the most state-of-the-art safety and convenient features.
The Nissan Frontier’s technological features, however, have been known to be years behind other trucks in its class, especially when it comes to its driver-assist features. This year, Nissan announced it would be introducing the third generation Frontier to the public in 2021. This will mark the first time that the mid-sized truck has seen any major changes in over 15 years.
While the new generation Frontier isn’t here yet, many people are wondering if the 2020 Nissan Frontier stepped up its game in the technology sector. So, what does the Frontier currently offer when it comes to safety and driver-assist features? Keep reading to find out.
Nissan Frontier safety features
When it comes to safety, the Frontier only offers the basic features. This mid-sized truck comes equipped with front and side-impact airbags, a reverse camera, a tire pressure monitor system, and a few other low-tech features.
Just like the previous generations, the driver assistant features on the 2020 Nissan Frontier are nonexistent. No matter which trim level you choose, you won’t find the latest tech, like a Blind Spot Monitor system or Adaptive Cruise Control, which many drivers have come to expect to find on their new vehicles. Instead, the Frontier has maintained its “old school” approach on driving which keeps the operations if the vehicle 100% in the driver’s hands.
Do other mid-sized pickup trucks offer driver assistant features?
Most new vehicles come with a host of driver-assist features. In fact, the Frontier is pretty much the only truck in its class that does not offer these advanced features. The new 2020 Honda Ridgeline, for example, offers a wide range of available features including adaptive cruise control and a lane-keeping assist system. The Ridgeline also has the available Honda LaneWatch system that uses a camera that is mounted to the passenger side review mirror to help drivers get a better view of the road behind them.
The Ridgeline is not the only other truck to come with driver-assist features. The 2020 Chevy Colorado comes with two drivers assist features. The Colorado is equipped with a forward-collision system and a lane departure warning system but they are only available on the LT trim level.
Another mid-sized truck that offers a variety of driver-assist features is the 2020 Toyota Tacoma. The Tacoma offers more standard driver-assist features than any other truck in its class. Some of the features include automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, and lane departure warning. Additionally, the 2020 Tacoma SR and SR5 come equipped with a panoramic camera that allows you to easily view everything that is around your vehicle. It even includes a bird’s eye view angle.
The 2020 Ford Ranger also comes with a blind spot information system, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a blind spot information system with rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams. All of these features come standard on the 2020 Ranger XLT and Lariat models and are optional on the XL trim level.
Is the new Nissan Frontier worth buying
The 2020 Frontier may not have the technological advancements that the other trucks in its class have. However, that does not mean that it is a bad truck. In fact, it is one of Nissan’s most popular trucks. The reason why so many people continue to live the Frontier in spite of the fact that it is not equipped with the latest technology is because it is still a very powerful and dependable truck.
When it comes to technology, the Frontier seems to be stuck in the year 2005. However, with a new generation expected to arrive in 2021, there is hope that the Frontier will finally be able to catch up to its competitors when it comes to driver-assist features.
