The Honda Ridgeline is a mid-size truck that has been around since 2006. At the time, the Ridgeline was a fairly unique offering, as it was a unibody truck that featured four doors. And, it was based on the popular Honda Pilot. Each Ridgeline comes standard with a V6 engine and some even feature all-wheel drive. Despite these characteristics, the Ridgeline has never really had the best sales in its class. If you are shopping for a used pickup truck, is the Ridgeline something that you should consider?

How long has Honda made the Ridgeline?

Honda’s mid-size truck was first introduced in 2005. And it really did go against what one would view as a traditional truck. Instead of using body-on-frame construction and a beefy V8 engine, the Ridgeline went a different route.

This truck boasted unibody construction, coming on the same platform as the Honda Pilot. Each model also featured a standard V6 engine. The decision to not go the way of a typical pickup might be why the Ridgeline never really found popularity. But this truck does come with a number of unique features which help to add to its utility.

Which Honda Ridgeline should you buy?

The 2018 Honda Ridgeline is a good mix of features and value. After the issues that plague the 2017 Ridgeline, Honda put more effort into building a reliable mid-size truck. Currently, used Ridgeline models from 2018 sell between $20,000 and $30,000, and that is certainly cheaper than going out to buy a new truck.

It is worth noting that there were some recalls that affected this model. So, if you are shopping for one you will want to confirm that they have been taken care of. Or, make sure you go to a Honda dealership to get them resolved. Recalls impacted both the fuel pump and cargo cover of this pickup.

Which Honda Ridgeline years to avoid?

According to CarComplaints.com, the 2017 Honda Ridgeline faced a number of different issues. Because of that, it might be a good idea to avoid this specific model. Nobody wants to buy a truck that is not reliable. And although Honda has been praised for reliability in the past, it is possible to have some misses.

Outside of the 2017 Ridgeline,  you should consider this vehicle if you don’t need the capability of a traditional truck.

Is Honda still building a truck?

In 2022, Honda is still building a pickup truck. This pickup still features a V6 engine and it even comes standard with AWD. The Ridgeline does have a higher price tag than other mid-size trucks. But, it also features one of the best interiors in its class.

The 2022 Ridgeline is not trying to be rugged, but rather a comfortable vehicle with the utility of a truck bed. So, outside of a few hard plastics, the cabin is surprisingly nice. This pickup even offers things like an in-bed audio system, which turns your truck’s bed into a giant speaker. And that is not something you will find elsewhere.
