Edmunds says the more costly option comes with seating for eight, while the cheapest version only seats five. In addition to the many standard features, owners also gain tri-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, additional USB ports, and satellite radio. The XLT model also includes XL features, like Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Ford Co-Pilot360, the trailer tow package, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, and a 12-inch touchscreen.

Most experts do not recommend buying the most popular 2023 Ford Expedition. For Edmunds, the best version of the full-size SUV is the Limited model. Starting at $69,855, this trim is slotted just one above the most popular XLT. The publication says it’s the one to get because “it adds convenience and luxury items such as a hands-free tailgate, leather upholstery, premium audio, adaptive cruise control, and a navigation system…” Moreover, it’s nice that customers interested in the Limited model can add the Stealth Performance package if they wish, which includes a more potent engine.

Next, Car and Driver consider the same model the best in the Expedition lineup. “Not only does it have a nice mix of standard features (leather-trimmed seats, a Bang & Olufsen stereo, and power-operated running boards), but it’s also available with an enticing performance option that should make the big rig better to drive,” C/D said. Both experts are drawn to the Steal Performance package, which adds a 440 horsepower engine, replacing the 375 hp unit. Unfortunately, all-wheel drive still costs another $3,000 extra with the best trim and package already equipped.
