Sometimes buying a basic truck is the best thing to do for your budget, but going for the Chevrolet Silverado EV WT might have a few consequences. While the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV Work Truck is a bargain, it doesn’t come with a few of the coolest features available.

One of the benefits of going for the Chevy Silverado EV WT may include a shorter waiting time, as it’s expected to be one of the first models to enter production. Those who want the Trail Boss or High country trims might have to wait a few more months.
However, the WT trim is missing some of the electric Chevrolet Silverado’s most revolutionary features. According to The Drive, it won’t have the Multi-Flex Midgate. It allows you to pass cargo through the cab and truck bed.
It extends the truck bed from 5.9 to 9 feet with the tailgate up and 11 feet if it’s down. The rear window can be left in place or stored away.
How much power does the 2024 Silverado EV WT have?
The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV Work Truck comes with 510 hp and 615 lb-ft of torque, which is impressive. However, the RST comes with 664 hp and 780 lb-ft of torque.
You can tow up to 8,000 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,200 lbs. Other models can tow up to 10,000 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,300 lbs. General Motors plans to produce a fleet option that can tow up to 20,000 lbs, but it could be years away.
On a positive note, the Silverado EV WT does come with standard all-wheel drive. But it might not get the four-wheel steering system or the adaptive air system.
Four-wheel steering allows you to steer the rear wheels independently from the front ones and shortens the turning radius to make it easier to maneuver through tight areas. The adaptive air system raises the suspension by two inches.
Also, the WT model might not have hands-free SuperCruise highway towing. This means you won’t be able to take your hands off the wheel during routes mapped for the SuperCruise system.
Is the Silverado WT worth buying?
Yes, the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV WT is worth buying, especially if you’re ready to ditch gas. All models are expected to have at least a 400-mile range and can replenish about 100 miles of charge in about 10 minutes with a DC fast charger.
With the Silverado EV WT, you can opt for the PowerBase offboard power supply. It can send 10.2 kilowatts through 10 outlets to power homes, work sites, camping trips, tools, and devices.
The interior features an 8.0-inch infotainment screen and a 7.0-inch digital gauge cluster. The black interior materials look comfortable and durable, while higher trims offer leather upholstery and a panoramic sunroof.
The Silverado EV WT is a pretty good start, but it doesn’t come with the most enticing new features that the other trims get. You’ll have to upgrade for more power, tech, comfort, and off-roading capabilities.
