The Cadillac XT4 is the also-ran in the brand’s lineup. It lacks the baller status of the Escalade and the performance of Cadillac’s sports sedans. Now that the futuristic Lyriq is in showrooms and the Celestiq is on the horizon, the new EVs further upstage the XT4. 

That’s not to say the XT4 isn’t worth considering. It offers a good dose of style and a spacious interior for a reasonable base price of $37,490. The problem is that people expect more of a wow factor from a luxury SUV at that price point. Compared to vehicles like the Audi Q3, BMW X2, and Volvo XC40, all within $500 of the XT4, the small Cadillac crossover lacks pizzazz. 

Fortunately, a refreshed XT4 is around the corner. Launching this summer, it gets a healthy dose of design cues from the Lyriq and Celestiq. The makeover includes revamped exterior styling and colors, bringing this small crossover in line with Cadillac’s new design language. But the big changes are inside, including an all-new dashboard with a sweeping 33-inch display and upgraded materials. These revisions could turn the XT4 from an also-ran into a contender.  

The 2024 Cadillac XT4 gets refreshed styling 

The first thing you notice is the 2024 XT4’s new exterior styling. A new front fascia updates the look, so it’s in line with the Lyriq, including a new grille and LED lights. The headlights are smaller and narrower, bracketed by the turn signals and daytime running lights.  

New 18-inch and optional 20-inch wheels continue the makeover, which also includes updated colors. In the back, the styling is tidied up with revised rear taillights and exhaust tips. Those differences seem minor until you park a 2023 XT4 next to the new one. Then the changes look like a complete revamp instead of a mid-cycle refresh.  

The 2024 Cadillac XT4’s interior boasts a 33-inch curved display

Open the driver’s door, and you’ll immediately notice the most significant change: a 33-inch curved display similar to the one in the Lyriq and Celestiq. Gone is the pod of gauges and wimpy eight-inch display. It’s been replaced by arguably one of the prettiest integrated instrument panels in any vehicle. 

That display features a customizable 9K resolution, Google integration, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. It also includes a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot and controls for a 13-speaker AKG Studio audio system, Cadillac says. 

Look around, and you’ll notice the dashboard sports sleek air vents and brushed aluminum accents. The seats have an updated embroidery pattern, and there are various new color and trim combinations.

The XT4 doesn’t have Super Cruise — yet

Super Cruise is off the menu, but Cadillac confirmed it’s coming soon. For now, the XT4 gets the Cadillac Smart System, with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, automatic braking, rear cross-traffic alerts, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot steering assist. IntelliBeam headlights automatically dim the high beams for oncoming traffic.  

The Active Safety Package is available for Premium Luxury and Sport trims and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and reverse automatic braking. It also has new features like an intersection function, traffic sign recognition, and speed limit assist.   

These changes give the Cadillac XT4 a new lease on life and combine with the crossover’s existing strengths, notably a spacious interior and a long list of standard features.
