The Cadillac Lyriq Has Already Been Recalled for Faulty Tech
The Cadillac Lyriq is one of many new General Motors electric vehicles. GM is producing several new EV nameplates in an effort to reduce carbon emissions across its lineup. In the decades to come General Motors and other major automakers hope to achieve complete carbon neutrality. This requires an entire portfolio of EVs. Since electric vehicle technology is uncharted territory for many automakers, there’s a huge learning curve. The Cadillac Lyriq has already been recalled over a tech issue.
Why was the Cadillac Lyriq recalled?
The Cadillac Lyriq was recalled because of an issue with its infotainment screen. Some Cadillac Lyriq infotainment screens are shutting down completely leaving black space where the display normally appears. General Motors claims that only 186 Lyriq models need to get a fix applied from dealers. The automaker has yet to sell many Lyriq models.
The Lyriq recall isn’t a huge deal, and the issue isn’t a major mechanical problem that could lead to injury. Luckily for Cadillac, the Lyriq is still very new, so not many drivers will be affected by the recall.
Some electric SUVs like the Ford Mustang Mach-E have had several serious issues in 2022 that require a recall. Many automakers are releasing their first-ever electric vehicle nameplates. Naturally, some unexpected problems can occur since these automakers are incorporating electric vehicle tech into new vehicles for the first time.
No vehicle is perfect. Even the best gas-powered and electric vehicles can have the occasional issue that leads to a huge recall. Ultimately, GM’s largest and worst electric vehicle recall should be far behind the company. If the American automaker has to enact another mass recall as it did with the Chevy Bolt again, it could lose the trust of consumers.
How much will a Lyriq cost?
The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq starts at $61,795. Consumers can opt for all-wheel drive for a total of $63,795. The Lyriq has 312 miles of driving range.
It makes 340 horsepower. The dual-motor all-wheel drive Lyriq makes a whopping 500 horsepower. So, for an extra $2,000 drivers get all-wheel drive and a hp boost of 160 horses. Not too shabby at all. The Lyriq is a midsize luxury electric SUV. Its main competitors are the Audi E-Tron, Tesla Model X, and BMW iX.
The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq may seem costly, but its price is competitive in its segment. The Lyriq with all-wheel drive boasts impressive performance specs that make it a standout model.
Does the Cadillac Lyriq have three rows?
The Cadillac Lyriq is a two-row luxury midsize electric SUV. It seats five occupants: four passengers and the driver. The Lyriq’s unique design language, great standard driving range, and incredible tech features are sure to excite plenty of drivers.
Its value proposition is music to the ears of potential buyers looking for a refined luxury midsize electric SUV that’s both capable and opulent. Car and Driver praises the Lyriq’s interior and quiet cabin.
