Camaro Discount Wars: Price Cuts $4,750 For Mustang Owners Only
And you thought cross-town rivalries in Detroit were dead? Last year the Ford Mustang beat out the Chevy Camaro in sales by almost 25,000. Chevy wants to cut that lead or even take the lead in 2020. If it can’t at least Chevy wants a fight so it has an exclusive offer pitched directly to Mustang owners. Chevy announced a $4,750 discount on new 2019 Camaros to current Mustang owners only.
Though we’re now in 2020 there must still be plenty of 2019 Camaros languishing on dealers lots. Do you think this is enough dough on the hood to make a Mustang owner switch sides? Many say there is no longer any brand loyalty. If that’s true then Chevy may be on to something.
Chevy cuts the Camaro price by $1,750 for anyone even if you don’t own a Mustang
If you want in on all of the Camaro mania but don’t currently own a Mustang Chevy will still help out. It is discounting all 2019 Camaros $1,750 through February.
The question is why hasn’t Chevy offered up this same discount to Dodge Challenger owners? After all, the Challenger beat out Mustang in sales in the third quarter last year. Overall Mustang sold over 72,000 cars versus a bit over 48,000 Camaros and 61,000 Challengers in 2019. So, in the pony car wars, the Camaro is lagging behind both.

If you own a Mustang and are really interested here’s the fine print. The first $3,750 allowance is available if you’ve owned your Mustang at least 30 days prior to purchase. The additional $1,000 comes from bonus earnings if you are a GM Card member only. You must have been a cardmember before January 2, 2020. All of this Camaro discount love stops on March 2, 2020.
But, can the $1,750 cash offer to all Camaro comers be applied to the other two offers? If all three; the Mustang owners offer, cardmember offer, and cash-back to all offer be combined, you’re now looking at $6,500 off of the price of a 2019 Camaro. Now we’re talking! But it’s unclear if this is the case so armed with the discount/cash-back info you’ll have to visit a Chevy dealer to put it all together.
The 2019 Camaro comes in five different trims that start at $25,000 for the LS. so, if all of the above applies that LS could be in your garage for $18,500. The Camaro also comes as a convertible which you can’t get with a Challenger. If the LS is too tame for you the other five trims are LT, LT/RS, LT1, SS, and ZL1.
Did you know you can still get a manual transmission in a Camaro?
Going with the LS you get the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder with 275 hp and a six-speed manual transmission. Yes, the manual is still offered in the Camaro. The next engine upgrade is the 3.6-liter V6 rated at 335 hp backed by a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Next up you’re in V8 territory with the direct injection 6.2-liter LT1 and 455 hp. It also comes with a 10-speed automatic. The top of the heap is the 6.2-liter LT4 V8 packing 650 hp. It is standard in the ZL1. Many of these engine options also make available the six-speed manual transmission.
With so many models it is easy to tailor a Camaro in very specific ways whether you’re looking for an overall performer, track car, or sporty commuter.
