Cameron Diaz brought us “The Mask,” “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,” and “There’s Something About Mary.” While she was cranking out 90s blockbusters, Diaz was also in close contact with cars that have us feeling super Gen X-y.

Her Nimble Geo Storm

While Cameron recalls her mom’s VW Bus and sister’s Bug as the first cars she regularly drove, she told Express in a 2007 interview that she got a zippy Geo Storm all for herself. The Storm was produced by GM from 1990 to 1993. A sporty two-door coupe, it was developed in partnership with Isuzu. Best described as “revvy,” the Storm was a nimble car with either 1.6L or 1.8L four-cylinder engines, depending on the year.

Cameron’s JDM Datsun

Early on, Diaz traveled overseas to Japan to jumpstart her modeling career. While there, she purchased a manual Datsun without air conditioning or even a cassette player (!). She hadn’t yet gotten to Hollywood, and her budget was tight. Guestimating the years here, I’d assume she had either a base trim Z car, gen unknown, or a vintage Datsun since the company went with the Nissan name after 1981.

A Swanky Mercedes C280

Cameron’s first major film was the iconic movie “The Mask,” released in 1994. IMDB quotes her as not even realizing how big the movie would be, asking the crew where her family might be able to see the finished product (In theatres. Any theatre *gesturing wildly*). With her paycheck, she treated herself to a Mercedes C280.

In 1994, the C280 lived a planet away from her Geo Storm. A regally compact four-door, its 2.8L four-cylinder engine made a surly 194 hp. The smallest of the Mercedes class offerings, it was luxurious, trim, and comfortably sporty – in a hulky nineties way.

Racing a bright yellow Toyota Celica

In 1995 Cameron raced in the Annual Long Beach Grand Prix Toyota Pro and drove a bright yellow Toyota Celica. 1995 Celicas came with either a 1.8L or 2.2L four-cylinder engine. A sleek two-door coupe, the five-speed manual Celica continues to have a dedicated fan following, much like your Honda Prelude and Civic Si fanbases. It was produced from 1970 to 2006. (Cameron lost the race.)
