According to the IIHS, the new Mazda3 earned a ‘Good” overall rating in its driver-side small overlap, small overlap front passenger-side, and moderate overlap front crashworthiness tests. This year’s model also earned a rating of ‘Good’ in side crashworthiness tests. It is worth noting that it earned an ‘Average’ score for driver injury measures as they relate to the torso, however. As for its roof strength, head restraints, seats, and front crash protection – this year’s model continued the trend of earning itself a ‘Good’ overall rating.
It also earned a five-star rating from the NHTSA
As for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)? It gave the 2021 Mazda3 a five-star frontal crash rating, side crash rating, and rollover rating. All in all, that earned the 2021 Mazda3 a five-star overall safety rating. Having already been named a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS, that’s pretty impressive.
