The Canadian 2022 Honda Civic Si Has a Lot More to Offer Than the U.S. Version
The much-anticipated 2022 Honda Civic Si was recently unveiled and its specs are good enough to appease even the most critical fans. There’s a high-flow turbocharged engine under the hood, a premium audio system, and it can even automatically rev-match your downshifts. Overall, it’s looking to be quite the compact performer, but have you seen the Canadian version of the Civic Si? It surprisingly has a lot more to offer.
The Canadian 2022 Honda Civic Si has the feature list we want
Take a look at the feature list for the U.S. version of the 2022 Honda Civic Si and you’ll notice that it’s nicely equipped for a sporty sedan priced under $30,000. But when you compare it to the feature list on the Canadian Civic Si, you might feel a little ripped off. According to a YouTube video posted by HondaPro Jason, the Canadian Civic Si comes equipped with the following:
Extra exterior features:
- Fog lights
- Front and rear parking sensors
- Integrated LED turn signals in the side mirrors
Extra interior features:
- Customizable TFT 10.2-inch digital instrument panel
- Shift light
- Heated front and rear seats
- Heated steering wheel
- Dual auto climate control
- Auto-dimming mirror
- Wireless charging
As we can see, there are a lot of differences between our Civic Si and the one that’s for sale in the great white north. By the looks of it, Honda basically included a lot of the features that we get in the Civic Touring trim in the Canadian Si, which makes us jealous.
The 2022 Civic Si still comes with plenty of desirable features
While we lament what could have been, we can also rejoice in what we have. Allow me to remind you that the U.S.-spec 2022 Civic Si comes standard with plenty of features. The most notable ones include a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that puts out 200 hp, a six-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential, and a Bose premium sound system with 12 speakers.
All things considered, those three features alone make this Civic leaps and bounds better than other trims in the current lineup. And I will say that those front seats look super sporty and comfortable. That being said, it would have been nice to have heated seats, which were included in the last-generation Civic Si. But alas, we can’t have everything we want.
Is it possible to import a Canadian Civic Si?
Unfortunately, no. I contacted Westgate Honda in Ontario, Canada, and asked about the possibilities of importing a Civic Si to the U.S. They were very prompt and courteous when telling me “no, sorry.” That’s a bummer considering the Canadian Civic Si is priced at around $27,377 USD ($34,981 CAD) and the U.S.-spec model carries an MSRP of $27,300. Paying the same price for more luxurious features sounds like quite the deal.
All things considered, it would have been worth the extra taxes and delivery charges to ship the car here, especially since U.S. dealers are currently marking up cars. Either way, my fingers are crossed that Honda might include some of those features in the next Civic Si update – a heated steering wheel sounds really nice.
