You may be thinking that there’s no competition between the 2022 Kia Telluride vs the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander, but you might be surprised at how comparable the Outlander is.

2022 Kia Telluride vs 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander: which is cheaper?

The 2022 Kia Telluride price starts at $32,790 for the base model, the LX. The 2022 Kia Telluride LX has a 3.8-liter V6 engine that makes 291-hp and can tow up to 5,000 pounds. The LX can also seat up to eight passengers and has a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a push-button as well as remote start. It also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. 

The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander ES price starts at $27,790. This comes with a four-cylinder engine capable of 181 hp matched to a continuously variable transmission and a continuously variable transmission. 
For under $30,000 you’ll also get a push-button ignition, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a six-speaker sound system. It’s also compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, according to Edmunds. The Outlander also comes with seating for up to seven passengers.

The Mitsubishi Outlander is a no-frills alternative to the Kia Telluride

While the 2022 Kia Telluride has a super nice interior that rivals luxury SUVs, the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander is a no-frills alternative. It uses plain, non-luxury materials and doesn’t splurge to make the Outlander feel upscale the way the Telluride does. If you don’t care about your SUV feeling high end, the Outlander is a great way to save some money.

Still, the 2022 Kia Telluride is bigger than the 2022 Mitsubishi, despite the fact that they each have seven seats. At 197” long, the 2022 Telluride is a full foot longer than the 2022 Outlander. If you need the extra space, this is nothing to sniff at. 

The Telluride can tow way more

While the Outlander can tow 1,500 pounds, the Telluride can tow up to 5,000. If you’ll be using your SUV for towing, this is an important number. So while the Outlander may be a great alternative to the Telluride in many ways, if you’ll need it for towing, it’s probably a safer bet to keep waiting for the Telluride.

Fuel economy is roughly the same for these two midsize SUVs. This mY be surprising, considering the Telluride has a V6 and the Outlander has a four-cylinder, but it’s true. The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander only gets about 27 mpg, which isn’t much better than the 2022 Kia Telluride’s 26 mpg on the highway. 

If you’re looking for a simple, no-frills seven-seater SUV, the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander is a perfect acceptable SUV, On fact, you just might love it. But if you crave a more powerful engine, high-end features, or need more towing capability, there’s really no substitute for the 2022 Kia Telluride.
