You Can’t Go Wrong With a Three-Row Hybrid SUV
If you’re in the market for a new three-row hybrid SUV, you can’t go wrong. With only a few different mainstream options available, each is an excellent choice. Overall, one of the most respected expert reviewers, MotorTrend, gave each one a top-tier rating. Here are three amazing three-row hybrid SUVs; you can’t go wrong with any of them.
3. 2022 Ford Explorer Hybrid
MotorTrend gave the 2022 Ford Explorer Hybrid the lowest rating out of the three models. Fortunately, even as the lowest-ranked model, the Explorer still received a respectable 7.8/10 overall score. MT didn’t like the Explorer Hybrid’s weak fuel economy, inferior interior, and slow powertrain. Other Explorer models gained speed but left the hybrid model in their dust.
On the plus side, the Explorer Hybrid is off-road capable. For off-roading, it comes with electronic traction control for changing the way you drive off-road. Additionally, it has an excellent towing capacity compared to other models in its class. More specifically, the three-row hybrid SUV can tow up to 5,000 pounds.
2. 2022 Kia Sorento Hybrid
For the 2022 model year, MT scored the Sorento an 8.1/10, making it the second-best three-row hybrid SUV. Negatives include a compact third row, meaning third-row passengers won’t be too comfortable on long journies. However, there aren’t many three-row models with ample space in the rear. Next, MT noted a “relaxed acceleration,” which simply means its powertrain is feeble and can’t take off quickly enough. Finally, MT couldn’t help but point out that the Sorento PHEV variant gets better fuel economy than the standard hybrid model.
On a positive note, the Sorento Hybrid maintains a beautiful interior and exterior design. Kia’s three-row hybrid SUV doesn’t look like a bulky family car. Next, all-wheel drive is available for the new model year, so Sorento owners get even more for a reasonable price. Finally, the infotainment screen received an upgrade for 2022. In the gas-only Sorento, owners will find an 8.0-inch screen upgraded to 10.3-inches in the hybrid variant.
3. 2022 Toyota Highlander
With an excellent score of 8.7/10, MT awarded the Highlander the title of best three-row hybrid SUV. Despite a noisy four-cylinder engine and tight third row, Toyota’s hybrid SUV has a lot to love. One of the most significant selling points is the Highlander’s driving range of over 600 miles. Thanks to superior fuel economy (36 city and 35 highway mpg), and a hybrid powertrain, it’ll take you over 600 miles before needing to refuel.
Additionally, MT loves the spacious cargo area inside Toyota’s three-row hybrid. Behind the third row of seats, owners get 16.0 cubic feet of storage space. Folding down the third and second rows provides Highlander owners with a whopping 84.3 cubic feet of space. Only the Explorer Hybrid has more room behind the first row, but not by much.
You can’t go wrong with a three-row hybrid SUV
Gas prices are the highest they’ve ever been, but you still need plenty of space inside your vehicle. A three-row SUV is imperative, but so is savings on fuel. You really can’t go wrong with a three-row hybrid SUV. Each model is better than the last, but even MotorTrend’s worst-ranked model is an excellent choice. Whether you like the Explorer, Sorento, or Highlander, you’ll be happy with your purchase.
