It sounds to good to be true, but this is actually legit. Tynan’s Nissan in Aurora, Colorado, started offering $19 leases this summer. In the few weeks following, the dealership leased hundreds of cars. Now, dozens more residents await an inventory restock. Of course, there’s a catch. The lease deal is only valid on one particular model: the 2025 Nissan Leaf.

The 2025 Nissan Leaf

As of June 2024, the 2025 Leaf starts at $28,140. Over time, it has faced near-relentless criticism for its low range (which averages less than 215 miles) and outdated charging system relative to competitors.

Nissan said it’s going to phase out the Leaf and replace it with another model by 2026. However, it remains one of the least expensive EVs on the American market.

Here’s a decent walkaround of the 2024 model year:

Colorado residents can take the deal at Tynan’s Nissan after paying about $2,400 in taxes and fees.

The dealership is able to offer such a low lease contract thanks to the state’s vehicle tax credit program. Buyers can take a $5,000 credit off any new plug-in EV purchase and an additional $2,500 if the MSRP is under $35K. Finally, the dealership can provide an extra $600 off the sale if it handles the paperwork instead of the buyer doing it. That shaves a hefty $8,100 off the Leaf’s already low MSRP.

In turn, the dealership decided to parse the “residual” difference of the car’s value after a 24-month lease term. It landed at $19 per month.

“It’s insane, and it truly is the best offer I’ve ever seen for a new car,” Samir Manohar told CPR News. He’s a sales rep at the dealership and handles the Nissan Leaf special.

It’ll be interesting to see if other dealerships around the country start offering similar lease deals. After all, consumer sentiment remains quite negative for car buying, all while inventory is boosted year-over-year. EV sales have cooled more than any other segment.

While the deal was set to end at the end of July, CPR News says the dealership might extend its 2025 Nissan Leaf lease special into August.
