How Much Cargo Can You Fit in a 2023 Toyota Prius Prime?

I had the privilege of driving the Toyota Prius Prime for a week and found out that its cargo capacity is flexible and very accommodating. Check out how much stuff you can fit in a 2023 Prius Prime.
How big is the cargo space on a Prius Prime?
According to Toyota, the cargo space in the 2023 Toyota Prius Prime measures 20.3 cubic feet, which is 0.5 more than the outgoing 2022 model. That sounds like a good number, but how much does 20.3 cubic feet hold?
To find out, I stuffed a carry-on suitcase, a duffel bag, and a large backpack in the car’s trunk. Surprisingly, all three pieces of luggage fit well, without much room for anything else. However, playing a little cargo Tetris can do wonders if more luggage needs to fit back there.
Sadly, I don’t think that a set of golf clubs will fit sideways, but they can fit when the rear seat backs are folded. Since I don’t have golf clubs, I utilized the extra space with a guitar case instead. Of course, it fits fine with space for one more passenger.
How spacious is the Toyota Prius Prime’s interior?
Toyota says the 2023 Prius Prime has 91.2 cubic feet of passenger space, which is enough to fit five adults comfortably. I tested out every seat with my 5-foot, 8-inch stature, and it fit well in every space except for the rear middle seat.
It’s not bad, but I suggest having small adults or children sit there for only short drives. Otherwise, the Prius Prime’s interior is spacious and comfortable for long trips.

The Toyota Prius Prime is utilitarian as well
In addition to being spacious, the cargo area in the 2023 Toyota Prius Prime is very utilitarian. My XSE Premium test car came equipped with all-weather cargo mats that extended up the rear seat backs. These mats are very helpful when you have muddy or wet cargo to put back there. They also help hold groceries in place.
One surprising cargo area feature was the 110-volt outlet. Although you may not be able to power a hair dryer with it, it can accommodate plugs for other small appliances you need to plug into it.
There are also a few storage cubbies in the front seat area, including a hidden compartment under a little storage tray.
Overall, the 2023 Toyota Prius Prime was surprisingly more pragmatic than I initially thought and can likely fit even more into it. Who said the Prius wasn’t cool?
