Celebrate This Ford Maverick for Making It Past 100,000 Miles
We have a Ford Maverick victory to celebrate! This little truck continued to surpass 100,000 miles and is still ticking. Finally, the Ford Maverick is accruing more miles, so we can get a better idea of how reliable it is.
How many miles will the Ford Maverick last?
We can determine that the Ford Maverick can make it past 100,000 miles. The Drive shared a 2022 Ford Maverick model that’s available with 112,334 miles on the odometer. It’s available at Roselle Motors in Lake St. Roselle, Illinois.
This 2022 Ford Maverick model was first sold on October 25, 2021, so its mileage breaks down to about 270 per day until it was recently traded in on December 9. The CarFax backs up these figures, but we don’t know who was driving it that much or why.
The 2022 Maverick is an EcoBoost-powered XLT model with the FX4 package. It’s not the hybrid, and it’s equipped with all-wheel drive.
The average Maverick is expected to make it past 200,000 miles, and one is officially over halfway there. It has an above-average reliability ranking.
The score is based on similar vehicles in the lineup. Unfortunately, the Maverick needs to gain more miles to receive an official reliability ranking. But at least we’re inching closer with more drivers getting behind the wheel daily.
What are the biggest Maverick problems?
One of the biggest 2022 Ford Maverick problems includes electrical issues. One driver left his Maverick for three days, and the battery was dead when he returned. A few features were turned off to conserve power, so he had to break into his truck to get the key from the glove box.
After having the battery replaced, he instantly received another low-voltage warning on the dash. Other drivers faced similar issues until a service bulletin shared that the battery connected to the engine is prone to failing.
Also, the wiring harness has made life frustrating for some 2022 Maverick owners. Loose connections kill the battery and make it impossible to jump. The rucks suddenly have no power at all, like the battery was disconnected.
While there was a recall to address issues with the trailer brakes, the regular brakes still have a problem. There are reports of complete braking failure, the brakes being slow to respond, and a strange knocking noise occurring at times.
The brakes seem inconsistent and jerky like they have no pressure. Also, the regenerative braking system makes them too weak to stop.
Is buying a used Maverick a good idea?
It could be a good idea to buy a used Ford Maverick in the future, but right now, inventory is limited. The 2023 model is completely sold out, and the models found at the dealership have massive markups.
For example, the 2022 Ford Maverick with 112,334 miles is currently available for $29,945. You could get a brand-new truck for that amount. Perhaps you can get a new 2024 model when the order banks open.
You could pay more for a used Ford Maverick model if you don’t want to wait. However, you can probably find options without 100,000 miles on the odometer!
At least we know that the Maverick can keep going after 100,000 miles, as expected. We can’t wait to see how it performs as it approaches 200,000 miles.
