I’m here to remind you that you can have a mechanic check out used trucks before you purchase one from a dealership. Certified pre-owned trucks can have hidden problems at steelerships. One man got a used Nissan Frontier with a defective frame.

Man buys a certified used Nissan Frontier with a defective frame

Mathew Bossinger of Omaha Nebraska recently purchased a certified pre-owned Nissan Frontier as a retirement gift. He was happy to have the truck after serving 16 years in the Army and traded two family vehicles to snag a good deal.

Mathew bought it from his brother-in-law at the Woodhouse Place Mazda. He felt confident that a family member wouldn’t pull anything over on him. However, because the truck was stocked with Woodhouse Place Nissan, he was forfeiting the CPO warranty.

The honeymoon period with this used Nissan Frontier didn’t last long. After six weeks he started hearing strange noises like squeaks and rattles from the undercarriage. Then the steering wheel started popping and everything was getting worse.

Mathew took his truck to Sid Dillion Nissan and technicians found that the Frontier had a defective frame.

It was missing multiple factory welds in the ladder chassis, placing stress on other areas of the frame. Some pieces were fractured and others were bent.

He has no choice but to get a new frame and this is where obtaining compensation for a faulty CPO vehicle became a nightmare. Nissan promised to provide a new frame and provided a service date that the dealer couldn’t uphold.

Then it became difficult to get acknowledgement from Woodhouse Place Nissan. He called multiple times, left voicemails, and posted reviews on Facebook and Google.

His trusted brother-in-law said they knew about it and thought the situation was crazy, but offered no help. According to the Drive, in an email response to a Google review managers apologized for what he thinks happened to his vehicle.

Now Mathew’s happy retirement has been stressful and he can’t even take his grandkids out on a boat he inherited. His plans for the used Nissan Frontier have been ruined.
