Change 2021 Camaro “Wild Cherry” Soda Name To “Yoo Hoo”
Silly soda names are all the rage at GM. While it has chosen “Wild Cherry” as a new special edition package for the 2021 Camaro, we are disappointed. Don’t get us wrong, we like Wild Cherry soda. It’s just that it isn’t catchy enough. Wild Cherry. It sounds like a mid-1990s boy band. No one is going to want to drive around in a boy band red Camaro. In fact, red Camaros are cliche. We have a much better soda name; change the 2021 Camaro Wild Cherry soda name to Yoo Hoo instead. The 2021 Yoo-Hoo Camaro.
The “Wild Cherry” package replaces the “Shock and Steel” package
The 2021 Wild Cherry Camaro is what Chevy is calling “Wild Cherry Design Package.” It is available if you order your Camaro with the RS trim and “Wild Cherry Tintcoat.” that’s one of those extra-cost paint colors. It appears to be replacing the “Shock and Steel Special Edition.” Who knew?
Actually Chevy is so hot for this package it has two versions. Per Muscle Cars & Trucks here’s what you get:
Wild Cherry Design Package 1
(RY2) Black Metallic Hash Mark Stripes, LPO (5ZB) Camaro logo wheel center caps, LPO (WR1/57W) 20″ 5-split spoke polished forged wheels with Black star center cap, and (VYW) premium carpeted floor mats with Camaro logo. It also includes a Camaro fender badge emblem (CG3).
Wild Cherry Design Package 2
Includes all Wild Cherry Design Package 1 (PDL) content, plus (S0U) Black suede knee pads (S0U), a black fuel filler door with a visible carbon insert (LPO: VQL), second-generation Carbon Flash Metallic Ground Effects (LPO VTD), and a Silver/Black/Black-Metallic Center Stripe (LPO: DUU/DUV/DW8).
Doesn’t it seem like these packages are getting a bit fussy? Do Camaro customers really care if they get a carbon insert on their gas filler door or a special fender badge emblem? We’re asking-we just don’t know.
Take the earth-tone color trend and apply a Yoo-Hoo brown
All of this Wild Cherry Special Edition stuff seems so yesterday. Haven’t you noticed the cool solid earth-tone colors on some pickups and European sedans? Jeep has even gotten into it a bit. So, why not take that trend and really make a different Camaro around the Yoo hoo soft drink?
It has a nice ring to it; Yoo Hoo Camaro. It rolls off of the tongue. And, with a spectacular brown that mimics the color of Yoo-Hoo soda, it would be a double hit. The color and the name combined to make a killer special edition.
The center console could be just the right size for a Yoo-Hoo six-pack
Inside there could be special Yoo-Hoo bottle holders. And the center console could be just the right size for a Yoo-Hoo six-pack. You could just lift up the console lid and slip in your six-pack. It could even be refrigerated. There could also be Yoo Hoo badges since Chevy thinks special badges are a thing.
There could also be a special compartment for a Yoo-Hoo scent. It would make the cabin smell like chocolate. You just replace the scent every so often. There could even be a 7Up lime scent and a Grape scent for those into different soda flavors.
The option we like best would be a Yoo-Hoo horn
The option we like best would be a Yoo-Hoo horn. Just like the old Plymouth Road Runners that had the “Beep-Beep” horn sound. This option would have an old hillbilly voice yelling “Yoo Hoo.” C’mon Chevy-here’s your chance to make a really special, special edition instead of this staid Wild Cherry thing.
