Thanks to Charli XCX, ‘Brat Green’ is a trending car color
While this year, the most popular car color in the U.S. is plain-ole white, a much different color made waves this summer thanks to a steeply rising British electropop icon: Charli XCX. “Brat Green” immediately launched as 2024’s official color with her new album release, “Brat,” in June. It’s been everywhere since.
Real quick, “brat” is a nearly-if-not-exactly-feminist term for a modern woman who is imperfectly passionate and a slew of other positively-negative qualifiers that are pretty much whatever whoever is calling something “brat” wants it to be.
Last year, it was “Barbie Pink.” But for Summer 2024, Architectural Digest describes the leading color as a shade of green that “seems to provoke a strong reaction…loud and abrasive, but also flirty and fun.”
The publication quoted Charli XCX explaining the color: “For me it just felt like the most WRONG out of all the options we had…The most off, the most uncomfortable, the most disorientating. And that’s why I chose it.”
Great! Because now it’s a trending vehicle shade.
One fan attended a “Brat” album cover signing and captured what they claimed was Charli’s ride to the event. To market the album, a Tesla was wrapped in Brat Green.

360, the popular Charli XCX “Brat” single, has 11.4 million views. The music video is full of used and abused cars, all in common shades of white, tan, and black. In any case, I wonder how long Brat Green will stick around. Considering the definition of “brat” includes the idea that we can change our minds whenever we want, I’m thinking not very.
