Once again, I am here to complain about inflation and the price of trucks. The cheapest mid-size truck for 2025 is pretty sparse. It covers most of the basics and could be a pretty beneficial work truck. However, it still starts at over $30,000.

What is the cheapest mid-size truck for 2025?

The cheapest mid-size truck for 2025 is the Toyota Tacoma SR. The entry-level 2025 Toyota Tacoma model starts at around $33,000 with the $1,495 destination fee included.

It’s close to the 2025 Ford Ranger and Chevrolet Colorado, which cost over $34,000. The 2025 Nissan Frontier hovers around $33,500.

Some people might not like that the entry-level Toyota Tacoma has a smaller cab, meaning it only has two doors. But deleting the backseat makes it cheaper. However, some drivers prefer having smaller two-door trucks for work.

The standard 2025 Tacoma engine is a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 228 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque. Rivals have more standard power. For example, the Frontier has a standard 3.8-liter V6 engine with 310 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque.

Also, the Tacoma SR has a left-spring rear suspension and rides on 17-inch steel wheels. The LED headlights are a nice perk.

Plus, the composite cargo bed and Class IV trailer hitch received with a seven-pin wiring connector are ready to be put to work. But you may want to consider upgrading to four-wheel drive for $3,200.

You get keyless entry for the driver’s door and a push-button start. An 8.0-inch touchscreen is standard along with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

Standard Tacoma safety features include forward collision warning, automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure mitigation, and lane centering assist.

This model is available with a six-speed manual transmission and a five or six-foot bed. The six-foot bed is standard and the five-foot bed comes with a standard cab, so it costs $2,200.

It may not be the best bargain but it is the cheapest mid-size truck available.
