BMW is a famous German luxury automaker well-known for building some of the most luxurious and high-performance cars on the market. However, like most luxury automakers, BMWs aren’t cheap, but that doesn’t mean car shoppers must spend a lot of money on a brand-new Beemer. Here’s a look at the cheapest new BMW SUV that’s on the market right now.

Thanks to the surge in SUV popularity, BMW has many options on the market right now, and the German automaker has even more SUV options coming soon. Currently, the most expensive BMW SUV is also the newest: the XM. Production on the SUV only started recently, and it’ll start at about $160,000.

Then there’s the iX, which is BMW’s electric SUV. It starts at about $87,000. After that is the X7, which starts at $78,000. The X6 is the next cheapest BMW SUV, starting at about $70,000. The X5 follows behind it with its price tag of $62,000. Then there’s the X4, which starts at about $54,000.

The second cheapest SUV option in the German luxury automaker’s lineup is the X3, which starts at about $46,000. The cheapest SUV option overall is the X1, starting at about $39,000.

A look at the specs of the 2023 BMW X1

As many drivers may have suspected, the main reason the X1 is the cheapest SUV option in the BMW lineup is that it’s also the smallest option. The X1 competes in the subcompact luxury crossover segment, and BMW currently doesn’t offer any other SUVs in America in the segment. Despite its small size, it is a very capable Beemer, and it’s also one of the best options in its segment.

Like many other BMWs, the X1’s driving experience is one of its highlights. It starts with a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder and gets 241 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. This is a capable engine, and it allows the luxury SUV to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.2 seconds. It also has a decent fuel economy of about 25 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on highways, for 28 mpg combined.

That said, the X1 isn’t just a powerful SUV. It’s also a luxurious SUV that comes with a lot of features. It has synthetic upholstery as standard, and BMW gave it a 10.7-inch touchscreen. It also has smart safety features, including forward collision warning and blind-spot monitoring. Despite its small size, the Beemer also has a good amount of cargo capacity as it maxes out at 57.2 cu-ft.

BMW’s other SUVs are capable and desirable too

While the X1 is a great luxury SUV at a relatively affordable price tag, BMW’s other options are also great for their own reasons. For example, the X3 is a compact luxury SUV, and BMW gave it several powertrain options, including a 503-hp V6. The X5 competes in the midsize luxury SUV segment, and just like the X3, it has more engine options than the X1 does. However, the X5 can be equipped with a third row of seats.

The X7 is one of the largest SUVs that the German luxury automaker has, and that means the most spacious overall. The iX, meanwhile, is BMW’s all-electric SUV option. It’s a capable luxury SUV that gets 324 miles of range on a single charge, a solid amount for an EV.
