Chevy Trax is greatly improved with its redesign for the 2024 model year
Along with being the cheapest new Chevy SUV, the Trax has an excellent redesign for the 2024 model year. When the new model was first revealed, it was a surprise. Previously, Chevrolet announced that it would discontinue the affordable SUV for the U.S. market. One isn’t even available for the 2023 model year. However, the automaker reversed course — and the Trax is back and better than ever.
The most noticeable difference is the striking exterior design, which was inspired by the Chevy Blazer. It has an athletic and muscular look — and is lower, wider, and longer than the outgoing model. Other exterior design highlights include the grille with distinctive horizontal lines around the Chevy bowtie emblem, as well as high-eye LED daytime running lights. The attractive design continues into the cabin, which is more refined and modern.
The redesigned 2024 Trax also offers more standard and available features, which makes it an even greater value choice. This includes larger touchscreens for the infotainment system, active noise cancellation, a wireless smartphone charger, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, push-button start, an automatic climate control system, a sunroof, and heated front seats. Also, the subcompact SUV is safer with the Chevy Safety Assist suite of driving assistance technologies.
2024 Trax has a more spacious cabin than the outgoing model
With its overall size increase, the 2024 Trax has a roomier cabin. It seats up to five people and has a total passenger volume of 99.8 cu-ft, compared to 92.8 cu-ft for the outgoing model. Also, the extra space makes the most significant difference for the rear seats — with 38.7 inches of rear legroom — an increase of three inches.
There’s also considerably more storage space. The 2024 Trax has a rear cargo capacity of 25.6 cu-ft and a maximum cargo volume of 54.1 cu-ft, compared to 18.7/48.4 cu-ft for the 2022 version.
