Redesign for the 2023 HR-V
The subcompact crossover SUV segment is increasingly popular — and the competition between models is fierce. The HR-V was starting to fall behind other crossover SUVs, but that all changed with the redesigned 2023 Honda HR-V.
The 2023 HR-V is much better than the outgoing model — with sporty exterior styling and other upgrades. Exterior design highlights include a longer hood, a sleek roofline, a larger grille, LED headlights, and wide LED taillights. Also, the hatch is more sculpted. Plus, to improve outward visibility, the all-new HR-V has door-mounted mirrors and a lower cowl (panel between the hood and windshield).
Furthermore, the 2023 HR-V experienced a growth spurt. It’s larger than the 2022 model — 2.6 inches wider and 8.7 inches longer. As a result of the increased size, the crossover SUV offers more interior space. It can seat up to five people with a total passenger volume of 98.7 cu-ft. Also, for storage space, the HR-V has a rear cargo capacity of 24.4 cu-ft and a maximum cargo capacity of 55.1 cu-ft.
Along with its roominess, the cabin of the new HR-V is more upscale, with high-quality materials and greater comfort. Also, the HR-V offers new interior features, such as body-stabilizing seats, an HD 9-inch color infotainment system touchscreen, and a 7-inch color TFT display.
The affordable Honda HR-V crossover SUV also has a more powerful engine
Another improvement for the 2023 HR-V is its more powerful engine. All U.S.-spec HR-V models come equipped with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. Mated to an upgraded continuously variable transmission, it generates 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. This is an improvement of 17 hp and 11 lb-ft of torque compared to the 2022 HR-V.
Also, the HR-V offers a new Real Time AWD system for enhanced traction, as well as a Snow mode. Additionally, a Hill Descent Control feature is standard. On top of this, the crossover SUV has improved driving dynamics, with more responsive handling and a smoother ride.
