Along with being the cheapest new Kia SUV, the 2023 Kia Soul is one of the most affordable SUVs available in America. The only one that costs less is the subcompact 2023 Hyundai Venue, which starts at $19,650. Additionally, the two South Korean models are the only new SUVs that cost under $20,000.

The rest of the top 10 affordable new SUVs are also subcompact models. This includes the 2023 Nissan Kicks ($20,440 MSRP), 2024 Chevy Trax ($21,495 MSRP), 2023 Hyundai Kona ($22,140 MSRP), 2023 Chevy Trailblazer ($22,100 MSRP), 2023 Mazda CX-30 ($22,950 MSRP), 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport ($22,995 MSRP), 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross: ($23,060 MSRP), and 2023 Kia Seltos ($23,340 MSRP).

Another thing that adds to the affordability of the Soul is its generous warranty coverage. Like other new Kia models, it’s backed by a 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. The long warranty coverage translates to less money spent on repairs and parts replacement, helping to keep down the cost of vehicle ownership.

Changes for the 2023 Soul

For the 2023 model year, the Soul has some styling tweaks. This includes a new front fascia — with new LED headlights, daytime running lights, and fog lights. Additionally, at the rear section, there’s a redesigned rear fascia with new headlights. Also, the affordable SUV features new wheel designs.

Furthermore, the Soul offers two new paint color options: Clear White and Surf Blue. Both colors can be paired with a black roof. Also, inside the cabin, the Soul offers a new infotainment system with a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a navigation system. The 2023 model year sees the loss of a desirable feature for performance-minded drivers, though: the turbocharged engine. Now, all models come equipped with a 147-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.

The 2023 Kia Soul is a budget-friendly choice for SUV shoppers. It’s the cheapest new Kia SUV — and one of the most affordable ones that you can get in the United States.
