It’s hard to assume things about SUVs these days. The industry is changing so quickly. Kia and Nissan used to be known for cheap entry-level vehicles, but their quality has been improving. The most affordable SUV actually comes from Hyundai. 

The cheapest SUV in 2024 is the Hyundai Venue 

If you thought that the cheapest SUV would come from Kia or Nissan, then those are good guesses. But the most affordable SUV is the 2024 Hyundai Venue, and it’s nicer than you think. 

Sure, Kia, Hyundai, Nissan, and Mitsubishi used to be known for cheap options without the best quality, but things have changed. Each SUV stretches your dollar further these days with plenty of standard comfort, convenience, and safety features. 

Anyways, the 2024 Hyundai Venue starts at $21,235 including the $1,335 destination fee. The MSRP is actually listed at $19,900, so it technically starts at under $20,000. However, dealership fees and markups aren’t included. 

The top-spec Limited trim starts at $24,485. For comparison’s sake, the 2024 Ford Maverick starts at $25,515 including the $1,595 destination fee. So the top Venue trim is more affordable than the entry-level Maverick. However, it doesn’t include the convenience of a truck bed

The Venue has a standard 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with 121 hp and 113 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a continuously variable transmission. The Venue can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.6 seconds, which is great for the class. 

Also, it gets an EPA-estimated 29 mpg in the city and up to 33 mpg on the highway. One drawback is that the Hyundai Venue isn’t available with AWD, but it has a driving mode for snow. 

Standard features for the entry-level model include 15-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, power-adjustable exterior mirrors, remote keyless entry, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. 

Safety features include forward collision mitigation, lane departure mitigation, driver attention warning, and rear seat reminder. 

Moving to higher trim levels provides access to a sunroof, push-button start, blind spot warning, USB ports in the rear, heated exterior mirrors, a wireless phone charging pad, and more. The Venue is a bargain for daily commuting.
