It may sound a little confusing, considering wireless Internet makes sense for your house but not a moving vehicle, right? There’s some truth to that. However, the Wi-Fi feature made for cars is used for different purposes. Also, as fancy as it may sound, even the cheapest Toyota sedan has Wi-Fi connectivity.

If you’re in the market for a compact sedan and need the flexibility that a Wi-Fi connection brings, the 2023 Toyota Corolla has you covered. In past years, the availability of Wi-Fi was solely reserved for luxury cars and high-end trim levels, but now, even the base model Corolla LE has it as standard equipment. Other Toyota models that come with Wi-Fi include the Camry, Prius, and RAV4.

The Wi-Fi feature is available through the Wi-Fi connect package via AT&T. Toyota charges uses $25 per month for it. However, drivers can opt for other streaming services like Apple Music, Amazon Music, and up-to-date navigation upgrades for $15 per month.

Is Wi-Fi really necessary in a car?

Wi-Fi in your car is unnecessary, but it works well for business purposes. If you’re the type that needs to handle e-mail on the road or connect to the occasional Zoom meeting while en route to a job site, having a Wi-Fi connection could be a lifesaver. However, if you only need it for familial and road trip purposes, like using a tablet or phone, having Wi-Fi is unnecessary.

Various automakers will have different prices and packages for Wi-Fi connectivity in their cars. Generally speaking, many of these packages are offered on a monthly subscription basis to the tune of $10 to $50 a month.

What other cars offer Wi-Fi connectivity?

There are many other cars in the market that offer Wi-Fi connectivity. According to Car and Driver, here are some of the most popular makes and models:

Although Wi-Fi connectivity used to be a luxury feature in the past, many automakers are equipping some of their most basic models with it now. The next you shop for a new car, don’t be surprised if you see Wi-Fi on the feature list. It could be good to have. After all, you never know if you may need it someday.
