The Camaro has never been much of a leggy car. Even in the days of big cars, the Chevrolet Camaro had high hips and a low-slung roof line. Even smaller and more aggressive are the fifth- and sixth-generation Camaros we see rumbling our streets today. The thought of anyone building a tiny camper out of this modern muscle car is not only hard to believe, but it’s also downright silly. However, someone did it, and it’s shockingly cool. 

What is the smallest camper? 

In a world that is properly camper obsessed, we see a much wider range of campers for people from all walks of life. From giant luxury RVs to teeny micro campers, there is something out there for everyone. Well, if that weren’t totally true before, now that we saw this Camaro, it’s certainly true now. 

Before you get worried about this being just another sports car with a rooftop tent, think again. This is a proper camper built inside of a Camaro. 

What do you need to make a camper? 

This Chevy Camaro may not have an abundance of room, but it’s got everything you need in a camper. As reported by GM Authority, regardless of size, this Chevy Camaro has a kitchen and a bed, all powered by solar panels on the roof. 

When the Camaro owner sleeps in the back, he uses the passenger chair as, well, a chair. Except the kitchen is where the chair would normally be. You’re going to have to accept the fact that there is little left of the Camaro that works like a regular car. This is where he works, eats his meals, and hangs out when he’s not piloting the tiny RV. The chair offers a surprising amount of space, especially considering that his kitchen takes up the space a normal passenger seat would occupy. 

The bed stretches from directly behind the driver’s seat and goes back through the back seats and the opened trunk. It’s a genius design. That said, if you struggle with claustrophobia, this single bed might be a bit tough. 

Does this camper have storage? 

The one weak point of this properly tiny camper is storage. This is typically one of the most important parts of camper life. Storage is often what dictates how much time one can spend out on the road. Having the right gear and some extra supplies is key. However, despite the Camaro camper’s size, the builder managed to squeeze in a tiny bit of storage space. He even says on the passenger side of the trunk, he made a bit of “closet space.” 

How much does it cost to build a tiny camper?

People have been asking this question a lot lately. The truth is, you can easily spend well into the six figures to build a camper. However, people like this prove that you don’t have to. The 2023 Chevrolet Camaro starts at $25,800. If you want to send your camper to outer space, you can opt for the Camaro ZR1 trim, which starts at $66,700. Then if you figure the conversion costs somewhere between $3,000-$5,000, then depending on which trim you get, you can build a pretty affordable little camper out of a Camaro. 

That said, if you want a camper, we recommend you skip the muscle car and do it in an SUV or van—no need to reinvent the wheel here. However, our hats are off to this intrepid explorer.
