The Chevy Blazer EV Might Be Too Vanilla
Uh oh, the Chevrolet Blazer EV is already on the struggle bus. The new electric Blazer isn’t even out yet, but it’s facing some difficult issues. Pass the spice over because the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV could be too bland for success.
The 2024 Chevy Blazer EV isn’t attracting attention
Reportedly, the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV is a little plain and needs to do something interesting to attract buyers. According to U.S.News, the electric Blazer SUV is fighting to stand out in the crowded segment.
The Blazer EV is hitting the scene a little late as the Tesla Model Y, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and Hyundai Ioniq5 are already popular options to buy. The Tesla Model Y is currently the most popular electric SUV and is expected to maintain its momentum during the next four years.
While the electric SUV market is expected to double to about two million vehicles by 2026, over 90 options could be available. The increase in electric models will make it harder for automakers to compete for profit.
The Tesla Model Y is projected to account for 15.6 percent of compact and mid-size electric SUV sales, while the Chevy Blazer EV could take up 6.6 percent of sales.
Is the electric Chevy Blazer worth waiting for?
Yes, the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV is worth waiting for. If you like the way the Blazer looks and want something that’s both sporty and efficient, then the Blazer shouldn’t let you down. There’s even a Chevy Blazer SS option in the works to make daily drives exciting.
Reservations for the electric Blazer will open on July 18, and the models should start arriving by the spring of 2023. Of course, supply chain issues, the ongoing pandemic, and other factors could cause delays.
But the time to get momentum going is now. Things might improve if we knew its official price. Some expect the Blazer EV to start around $35,000, while others suggest that it could begin at about $40,000. The 2022 Blazer has an MSRP of $33,400.
We are only a few days away from learning more about the electric Blazer. It will debut on July 18. Until then, we can speculate that the base model will offer between 250 to 300 miles of range to compete against the Ford Mustang Mach-E.
It could borrow from the Cadillac Lyriq, which offers 312 miles of range. It has 340 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. A dual-motor variant with AWD and 500 hp is in the works.
Does the Blazer EV have nice features?
The 2024 Chevy Blazer EV is expected to provide plenty of excellent features. It will probably be compatible with the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system. The interior will have two massive screens for the infotainment system and digital gauge cluster.
It will be the first General Motors vehicle to ride on the GM BEV3 platform with a ‘skateboard-type’ architecture. The Blazer is expected to be 194 inches long, making it a mid-size option with plenty of passenger space.
We hope that it attracts more attention once it debuts. Then we can learn more about what to expect. It’s a little early to say that it needs help to stand out from competitors, but it is late to the EV party.
