The Chevy Bolt EV and EUV are some of the most affordable EVs on the market and come with many great features. The Bolt EV and EUV come with a variety of driving modes. Using the correct mode can be beneficial to drivers. Here’s a look at the Chevy Bolt EV and EUV and their driving modes. 

How the Chevy Bolt EV and EUV’s driving modes work

According to GM Authority, the Bolt currently comes with three driving modes. The first mode is Sport mode, and drivers can activate it by simply pressing a button on the center console. The button is labeled with a checkered flag, and when Sport mode is activated, it’ll make the Bolt more fun to drive. Sport mode improves the car’s throttle response and makes the steering wheel feel more responsive, but it’ll probably lower the Bolt’s range. 

The next mode is Regen on Demand, which, as its name suggests, will allow drivers to use the car’s regenerative braking system on demand. This mode can be activated by pulling on a paddle located on the steering wheel. It’ll then slow the car down while also charging the Bolt’s battery a little bit. Using this mode properly can help drivers get the most range out of their Chevy. 

According to GM Authority, the last mode that’s available on the Bolt is the One Pedal Driving mode. This mode is activated by pressing a button located at the bottom of the car’s gear selector button panel. This mode uses a more robust version of the Bolt’s regenerative braking system to allow drivers to drive with just their foot on the throttle. This mode is useful for stop-and-go traffic, and it’ll also help improve the Bolt’s range.

The differences between the Chevy Bolt EV and EUV

Learning to use those eco-friendly modes can be helpful, especially for folks considering the Bolt EUV. Both versions of the Bolt are good, but the Bolt EUV is a larger version of the car, and as a result, it has less range. The regular Bolt gets about 259 miles on a single charge, while the Bolt EUV gets 247 miles. That’s a difference of 12 miles. 

On top of that, the Bolt EUV will cost a bit more. It starts at around $33,000, and that’s $2,000 more expensive than the regular Bolt. This premium is paying for a physically larger car, but the EUV doesn’t have more cargo room. Both Chevys get about 56 cu. ft. of cargo space at best. The EUV has more legroom and the option to add Chevy’s SuperCruise feature.

However, no matter which version the Bolt customers choose, they’ll be very similar. They both come with an electric motor that gets 200 hp, and they’re both very similar cars in terms of their interiors. These Chevy EVs come with a 10.2-inch touch screen display as standard, an 8-inch digital gauge display cluster, and a suite of smart safety features. 

Those smart safety features include automatic emergency braking, a pedestrian detection system, lane departure warning, etc. The Bolt isn’t out of the ordinary compared to other EVs in terms of charging. When it’s plugged into a Level 2 outlet, it’ll take about 7.5 hours to recharge. It can also be charged with a DC fast charger, and it’ll get about 95 miles of range after 30 minutes of DC fast charging.
