Chevy Didn’t Even Make it on the List for Best Pickup Trucks of 2020 and 2021
Edmunds rated and ranked all the new trucks in three different groups. The best pickup trucks of 2020 and 2021 rank the top three for midsize, large, and heavy-duty trucks. While GM’s GMC Sierra made it on two of the top three lists, Chevy is completely excluded from the best lists.
According to Edmunds, the Honda Ridgeline is the best midsize pickup truck. The Ford F-150 is the best large pickup truck––and Edmunds ‘Top Rated’ pickup truck of 2021. For the best overall heady-duty pickup truck Edmunds chose the Ram 2500.
The best pickup trucks of 2020 and 2021
The Honda Ridgeline, Ford F-150, and Ram 2500 are all great trucks. In fact, Edmunds ranks them all as the best truck in their respective class. So what is so great about these three trucks that they won first place?
Each of these are well-rounded and high quality examples of what a truck needs to be. The Honda Ridgeline is the best midsize truck because it’s versatile and comfortable. It offers the best of both worlds as a great city truck with nice side portion of utility.
The Ford F-150 received a redesign for 2021. It now offers a hybrid powertrain––the first in its class of large pickup trucks to offer such. The Ram 2500 is the best heavy-duty pickup truck with brawny capability and the nicest cabin of virtually any other trucks of that level of working capability. Both the Ford F-150 and the Ram 2500 work hard to achieve a nice blend of workhorse utility and business casual relaxation in the cab.
What are the best midsize pickup trucks?
The best midsize trucks––also known as the compact pickup truck ––are the The Honda Ridgeline, the Jeep Gladiator, and the Toyota Tacoma. These are all popular among compact pickup truck shoppers. In fact, Consumer Reports agrees.
The critics with CR also ranked the 2021 Honda Ridgeline and the 2021 Jeep Gladiator the best compact pickup trucks of the year. The Toyota Tacoma continues its rugged legacy. It easily doubles as both a spritely city truck and a tough adventure vehicle.
What are the best large pickup trucks?
The best large pickup trucks are the Ford F-150, the Ram 1500, and the GMC Sierra. Edmunds appreciates each truck for different reasons. The top-rated 2021 Ford F-150 boasts class-leading towing and hauling strength. With its smooth coil spring suspension, the Ram 1500 takes second place for its cushy ride. Then the GMC Sierra 1500 is meant to appeal as a ‘luxury truck’ to what Edmunds calls the “more affluent audience.” It barely edges out the Chevrolet Silverado taking third place.
Also known as full-size pickup trucks, this is one of the most popular vehicle classes on earth. Especially as technology improves, the full-size pickup truck is more today than it’s ever been before. Refined cabins and increasingly plush and gentle driving experiences continue to set new standards in the full-size pickup truck class.
What are the best heavy-duty pickup trucks?
According to Edmunds, the best heavy-duty pickup trucks of 2020 and 2021 are the Ram 2500, the Ford F-250 Super Duty, and the GMC Sierra 2500 HD. These three heavy-duty pickup trucks take first, second, and third place respectively. Again, we don’t see a Chevy in the top three.
Of all three, the Ram 2500 is the most refined. The Ford F-250 Super Duty is a workhorse, but it’s a bit dated. The GMC Sierra 2500 HD is in third place, but Edmunds says it only beats its corporate cousin the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD by a smidgen.
