If you want the truck with the best fuel economy, check out the Chevy Silverado 1500. It gets an EPA-estimated 23 mpg in the city, up to 31 mpg on the highway, and 27 mpg combined. According to iSeeCars, this can’t be beaten.

The Ram 1500 has an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 26 mpg combined, while the Ford F-150 gets about 25 mpg. New technology helps trucks reduce fuel consumption and improves efficiency without giving up performance.

As vehicles go hybrid and electric, we can also thank cylinder deactivation, turbocharging, and smaller engine choices that don’t sacrifice horsepower for fuel savings. New 10-speed automatic powertrains help save fuel, too, without negatively impacting payload and towing capacities.

How much power does the Silverado 1500 have?

The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 has four engines. The 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine cranks out 310 hp and 348 lb-ft of torque. With the 5.3-liter V8 engine, you get 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque.

You can upgrade to the 6.2-liter V8 engine for 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Also, last but not least, the 3.0-liter V6 Duramax diesel engine cranks out 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

The Silverado 1500 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 5.4 seconds with the 6.2-liter engine. With the 5.3-liter engine, the Silverado can reach 60 mph in about 6.1 seconds. The diesel powertrain is the slowest option, but it’s still smooth and quiet.

When properly equipped, the Silverado can tow up to 13,300 lbs. These numbers are achieved with the diesel and 6.2-liter engines. With the 5.3-liter engine, you can tow up to 11,500 lbs, and the 2.7-liter can tow up to 9,500 lbs. The payload capacity ranges between 1,870 to 2,280 lbs.

The Chevy Silverado 1500 is incredibly smart and convenient for towing. With the optional Advanced Trailer Package, you get Hitch Guidance with Hitch View to simplify hooking up. The cameras provide up to 15 views.

There’s also the electric parking brake hook-up assist, integrated brake controller, trailer theft alert, and in-vehicle advanced trailering. The hitch view provides an overhead view with the ability to zoom in, allowing you to hitch your trailer on your own.

Plus, you can access customized trailer profiles based on if you’re pulling a boat, cargo, livestock, travel, flat trailer, and more. Use the pre-departure, trailer lighting diagnostics, and trailer temperature and pressure monitoring system to ensure you’re ready to roll safely.

The Chevy Silverado 1500 displays crucial trailering information and camera views on the new 13.4-inch touchscreen display. Not only will the Silverado help you save fuel, but it makes towing easier.
