The Chevy Silverado EV is finally hitting the internet. Since electric trucks have been big news this year, what is in store for the all-electric Chevy Silverado? Check out the information known so far.

Chevy Silverado EV pricing estimates and potential trim levels

According to Car and Driver, there are a few tidbits that are already known about the Chevy Silverado electric truck. Since Chevrolet hasn’t confirmed all of the details yet, some of this is just speculation until that happens. Ideally, the Silverado EV will have a large battery pack to allow it to compete with similar full-size electric trucks. It will probably have up to three motors and a variety of trim levels.

Based on the current trim level formula, Car and Driver anticipates at least three trim levels. Chevrolet revealed that the estimated starting price for the EV truck would start around $39,900. The Work Truck (WT) trim will start around that $39,900 go up from there. Right now, buyers can reserve the WT or RST trim.

“Customers will have the ability to content the truck across various price ranges, with MSRPs around $50,000, $60,000, $70,000, $80,000 and more, allowing them to choose the truck that meets their capability and pricing needs.”

An LT trim could start at $50,000, while the LTZ would likely be higher than that. The Silverado EV High Country trim could top out somewhere around $80,000. Chevrolet stated it would offer a stripped-down version that would be suitable for fleets, which would be somewhere below the $50,000 starting price.

Details about the Electric Silverado range

Chevrolet announced that the electric Silverado will have an “available” estimated 400-mile range on a full charge. That doesn’t sound like a concrete statistic yet, so it will be interesting to see what this pans out to later. Based on the trim levels and similar trucks, a larger battery will probably be available to offer more range.

The truck will offer 120-volt charging, 240-volt charging, and DC Fast-Charging. GM estimates that DC Fast-Charging will get over 100 miles of range in only 10 minutes. Twice as fast as the competitors, the automaker said.

Reservations for the electric Chevy Silverado opened right after the premiere, but it is likely these spots will go quickly. The 2024 Silverado EV will be available in Fall 2023, with more trim levels available after that.

The electric truck’s motor, transmission and performance

The new electric Silverado will probably share a lot of details with the new GMC Hummer EV. Car and Driver suggests that it will share a platform and even an assembly line with the Hummer. Due to this, it is likely that the Silverado will share a powertrain, too. So depending on the trim, that will determine the number of motors included.

Chevrolet says that the Chevy Silverado EV will have over 660 hp with Wide Open Watts. In the foot notes, that Chevy says the 2024 RST with Wide Open Watts will have 660 hp and 780 lb-ft of torque. That is a zero to 60 mph time of about 4.5 seconds. All-wheel drive will likely be standard. Plus, Chevrolet has confirmed the Silverado will have a new four-wheel-steering system that looks pretty cool.

The bed of the truck will have a multi-flex mudgate with a pass-through. That means the electric truck can fit items over 10 feet in length. It will also come in a 60/40 configuration that allows for items nine feet long. Alternatively, the standard truck bed can fit items five feet, eleven inches long.

As GM releases more information about the electric Silverado, keep your eyes out for different range estimates. This is one of the bigger “deal breakers” for those looking into buying an electric truck.
