The Chevy Silverado EV is one of the most anticipated electric pickup trucks because of its amazing capabilities. Chevrolet has begun the rollout by introducing the most impressive model first, the Silverado EV RST. The electric pickup truck vehicle segment is especially competitve because of the standard that the F-150 Lightning is setting.

The F-150 Lightning has innovative new features such as a Mega Power Frunk, Ford Pro Power Onboard and a backup power feature that can power homes during power outages. The Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck isn’t the only EV that can power a home.

According to Electrek, the Silverado EV has its own version of Intelligent Backup Power. The electric pickup truck is one of the many electric vehicles that General Motors is attempting to add the feature to. If GM is sucessful, certain Silverado EV models will also be able to power homes and potentially other devices using its own battery capacity.

The Chevy Silverado EV is estimated to have a starting price of $39,900. The final RST trim could cost buyers over $105,000. There are at least three Silverado EV trims avaialable for consumers offering different degrees of driving range and horsepower.

The Silverado EV RST trim will have an incredible 400-mile driving range. That’s one of the furthest electric vehicle driving ranges documented thus far. It is expected to make a massive 664 horsepower. General Motors CEO Mary Barra claims that the Silverado EV will dominate its vehicle segment. While the RST trim is very impressive, it’s much too soon to decide if the Silverado EV rivals the Ford F-150 Lightning or not.

Chevy hasn’t exactly climbed high up the full-size pickup truck ladder over the years. Ford and Ram have led the full-size pickup truck segment. Chevrolet will really have to produce something special to compete with Ford and Ram’s electric pickup truck models.

Where is the Silverado EV built?

The Chevy Silverado EV is currently being built in Detroit, Michigan. It is expected to debut in the spring of 2023 as a 2024 model year.

General Motors is in it to win it with this exciting new EV. Since the full-size truck segment is one of the most popular segments in America, this model will play a huge role in the brand’s future. Will the Chevy Silverado electric pickup truck shock the competition, or will Ford’s electric truck be too popular to compete with?
