The new Chevy Silverado EV is all over the news as the most recent electric truck to hit the market. This week, Chevrolet released more information about the electric Silverado and the two trim levels it will be offered to start. These trim levels for the electric Chevy Silverado truck are the Work Truck (WT) and the Rally Sport Truck (RST).

The electric Chevy Silverado premiered this week and has the internet buzzing. There are two very different versions of the Chevy Silverado EV slated for production, starting with the Work Truck (WT) trim. As it stands right now, the Work Truck trim will be the first-available electric Silverado.

It has a lot to offer buyers with 510 hp, 615 lb-ft of torque, and 8,000 pounds of towing capacity. The WT also gets a 1,2000-pound payload capacity. Chevrolet says that a higher 20,000-pound towing capacity is scheduled for later release. The truck will offer 120-volt charging, 240-volt charging, and DC Fast-Charging. GM estimates that DC Fast-Charging will get over 100 miles of range in only 10 minutes. Twice as fast as the competitors, the automaker said.

Chevy says the first model will be available in the spring of 2023 for fleet customers. The $39,900 price everyone is talking about will apply to the fleet Work Truck. The electric Silverado Rally Sport Truck (RST) trim pricing and specs

The Chevy Silverado EV Rally Sport Truck (RST) is considered the top-of-the-line trim level. The RST will get around 400 miles of range and can power 10.2 kW through outlets. Like the Ford F-150 Lightning, the electric Silverado RST will be able to charge other electric vehicles via those outlets. The truck has 664 hp and 780 lb-ft of torque. As far as towing goes, the RST has 10,000 pounds of trailering capacity along with 1,3000 pounds of payload.

The RST is likely the trim that will get the four-wheel-steering system that everyone keeps talking about. It will also have Automatic Adaptive Air Suspension. The bed of the truck will have a multi-flex mudgate with a pass-through. That means the electric truck can fit items over 10 feet in length. It will also come in a 60/40 configuration that allows nine-foot-long items. Alternatively, the standard truck bed can fit items five feet, eleven inches long.

The Chevy Silverado EV Rally Sport Truck (RST) will start at $105,000 and will come sometime after the Work Truck starts delivering. After that, Chevy plans to offer a DFC, RST, and Trail Boss trim that will range from around $50,000 to $80,000.

Chevrolet put a lot of thought into both trim levels

Both the Chevy Silverado EV Work Truck and Rally Sport Truck will have a Crew Cab configuration. It sounds like there are endless configurations even with a Crew Cab configuration, though. The automaker will assemble the newest electric truck at GM’s Factory ZERO Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center. The automaker plans to use as many domestically-sourced parts as possible, which is why the new GM EV battery plant is so important.
