The 2022 Nissan Altima comes in four trim levels, ranging from about $26,000 to just over $35,000. The standard trim is the SE. It comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable transmission. This powertrain makes about 188 hp, and it’s adequate for the car. The standard Altima also has a 7.0-inch touchscreen display and several advanced safety features.

Then there’s the SV trim, starting at about $27,000. The next trim level up is the SR, and it starts at around $28,000.

Finally, the range-topping Platinum trim starts at $35,000. It offers many extras, such as a 360-degree camera system. However, the Platinum isn’t necessarily the best trim.

Instead, Car and Driver recommends the SR trim. It costs only $2,000 more than the standard model and $1,000 more than the second-cheapest trim. Nissan gave the Altima SR trim some fun features that make driving more pleasurable. It now has a sport-tuned suspension and 19-inch wheels, and it also has many helpful convenience features.

For example, the SR upgrades the infotainment screen to 8.0 inches, improves the gauge cluster, wraps the steering wheel in leather, and adds an eight-way powered driver’s seat.

C/D also recommends adding the Premium Package option. It costs $1,800, but it adds more tech and comfort features. For example, the Premium Package provides access to Nissan’s ProPilot Assist semiautonomous self-driving feature. This package also adds heated front seats, heated mirrors, and a sunroof.

The 2022 Nissan Altima trim that MotorTrend recommends

On the other hand, MotorTrend suggests shoppers choose the 2022 Nissan Altima SV. This trim is only $1,000 more than the standard model. However, it offers plenty of features for the additional cost. Instead of the standard 19-inch wheels, the SV has 17-inch wheels. They make the Altima’s ride more comfortable.

In addition, the SV trim offers some features the SR trim has but the standard trim doesn’t have. For example, the SV also has a power-adjustable driver’s seat, LED headlights, and more advanced safety features than the standard model. MotorTrend also recommends adding all-wheel drive. That upgrade will push the SV’s price to $28,000.

On top of that, the SV trim also boasts the upgraded 8.0-inch touchscreen display in the SR trim. The SV also has the same upgraded gauge cluster as the SR. As a result, although the SV trim is less fun to drive than the SR, its strong balance of features make it a good car for daily driving.
