The 2021 Hyundai Sonata is cheaper than this year’s Camry

First things first, let’s talk about price. Now, there’s no getting around the fact that the 2021 Hyundai Sonata is cheaper than the Toyota Camry. This year’s Sonata boasts a base price of $23,700. Upgrade to the SEL for added features like heated front seats, and you’ll be spending just under $26,000. But at its most expensive, the 2021 Hyundai Sonata will cost you approximately $33,950.

The Toyota Camry is a tad more expensive. Opt for a base model, and you’ll be spending about $24,970 on the 2021 Camry. Upgrade to the SE, and the Toyota Camry’s price jumps up to $26,485. As for the range-topping XSE V6? That will have you spending $35,545.

For a better ride, choose the 2021 Toyota Camry over its Hyundai competition

While the Hyundai Sonata has the edge in pricing, this year’s Camry offers up a much better driving experience than the Sonata does. The Camry comes standard with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, with a horsepower rating that ranges from 202 to 206-hp. Meanwhile, the Camry TRD comes driven by a 301-hp V6. 

As for the Sonata? Its base engine is only able to manage 191-hp. Upgrade to its available turbocharged engine, and the Sonata can churn out 180-hp, which is still significantly less power than the Camy has to offer. You could always upgrade to the N Line for more power, which comes equipped with a 290-hp engine. But even then, that’s less power than the Camry has to offer.

According to U.S. News & World Report, the Toyota Camry’s handling is “composed without sacrificing passenger comfort” too. As for the Hyundai Sonata? U.S. News & World Report says that “it’s far from sporty, and the ride feels a bit firm at times.” Not exactly a winning recommendation.

Odds are, you want to be comfortable every time that you get behind the wheel. Fortunately, the 2021 Hyundai Sonata is pretty comfortable. According to U.S. News & World Report, this year’s Sonata utilizes some pretty nice materials across its entire trim lineup. 

The Toyota Camry, on the other hand, saves its best materials for the uppermost trim levels. Consumer Reports added that headroom in the Camry is a bit tight for taller folks too. And its rear seat? It’s reportedly not as comfortable as last year’s model was.

But while the Sonata may be comfortable, it’s the Toyota Camry that offers better tech features. Though both vehicles come standard with a touchscreen display that features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth hands-free technology, it’s the Camry that’s available with WiFi Connect, wireless smartphone charging, and Amazon Alexa.
