Chrysler 300C vs. Kia Stinger Tribute Edition: Is Either Special Edition Sedan Worth It?
The Chrysler 300 and Kia Stinger have a few things in common. Most notably, both cars are heading to the chopping block; each marque will discontinue the large sedans soon. However, before the models drive off to the discontinuation station, the automakers will celebrate them with a set of special editions. So, is the limited-release 2023 Chrysler 300C or the Kia Stinger Tribute Edition worth it?
Is the Chrysler 300C a V8?
The 2023 Chrysler 300C packs a naturally aspirated 6.4L V8 in the marque’s limited edition swan song 300 trim-topper. The result is a Chrysler sedan that produces 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, the V8-powered 300C is limited to just 2,000 copies, so it’s unlikely that many fans will get their hands on the Mopar option.
Still, the special edition Chrysler model will likely keep up with the comparably brawny Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack, which packs the same 485-horsepower V8. Still, MotorTrend got the Widebody Charger variant to hit 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds on its way to a 12.7-second quarter mile. The 300C will be similarly fast; Chrysler says it will hit 60 mph in 4.3 seconds.
How is the Kia Stinger so fast?
The 2023 Kia Stinger GT2 uses a twin-turbocharged 3.3L V6 to produce 368 horsepower. Moreover, with the GT2 AWD’s four-wheel power, the Stinger is fast enough to hit 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds. However, even performance like this couldn’t save the Stinger; Kia is killing off its flagship sports sedan due to low sales.
Moreover, Kia, like Chrysler, is sending off the model with a special edition. Enter the Tribute Edition, a 1,000-copy limited-release Stinger with special Moonscape Matte Gray paintwork and numbered door sills to tell observant fans that it’s the rare Tribute Edition. However, unlike the Chrysler 300C, the special edition Stinger doesn’t get a larger-displacement mill.
What is the price of a Chrysler 300C?
Chrysler says the new 2023 300C will start at around $55,000 after a deposit. However, given the limited numbers of the vehicles, it’s unlikely that any fans will get their hands on it for close to that amount of money. Moreover, the 2023 Chrysler 300C starts at around $6,250 more than the 300S.
How much is a Kia Stinger Tribute Edition?
While Kia hasn’t said anything about the starting price of the new car, the new Kia Stinger Tribute Edition will likely cost more than the range-topping GT2. That grippy super sedan starts at around $52,935, so it stands to reason that the Tribute Edition will sell for more than that.
Is the Chrysler 300C or Kia Stinger Tribute Edition worth it?
Depending on what you want from your special edition super sedan, these two cars aren’t worth it. For instance, the cheaper Kia Stinger GT2 AWD will likely be just as quick and capable as the limited-release Tribute Edition. Moreover, the 300C won’t be much quicker or thunderously raucous as past models with 6.4L V8s, like the 2014 Chrysler 300 SRT8. The SRT8 is much, much cheaper and produces 470 horsepower.
However, if you want a piece of history from either of these sedan models, the 300C or Tribute Edition might be right for you. What do you think of these special editions? Tell us in the comments below!
