Ford has a sizable SUV lineup, with vehicles like the Bronco, EcoSport, Edge, Escape, Explorer, and Expedition. However, a highly capable SUV is available in international markets such as Australia, but not yet in the United States. It’s the Ford Everest, which appears to be an SUV version of the redesigned 2023 Ford Ranger pickup truck. Is the 2023 Ford Everest coming to the U.S.?

Earlier this year, people spotted Ford testing a prototype SUV that utilizes the same platform as the redesigned 2023 Ford Ranger, as reported by CarBuzz. The 2023 Ranger made its global debut last month and will be released in 2022. Many speculated that the prototype vehicle in question is the next-generation 2023 Ford Everest. 

The Everest is a highly capable SUV that features a rugged body-on-frame structure. It’s never been sold in the U.S. The likely reason for this is that it overlaps with the Ford Bronco and Explorer SUVs. In many respects, the Everest is what Bronco enthusiasts hoped the Bronco Sport would be.

The speculation turned out to be true, for the Ford Philippines YouTube channel recently posted a teaser video of the Everest, showing it to be the same prototype SUV that people spotted earlier this year.

2023 Ford Everest: An SUV version of the Ranger that’s more capable than the Explorer

As you can see in the reveal video, the front of the 2023 Ford Everest looks very similar to the 2023 Ford Ranger. Given that Ford manufactures the Everest in the same plant as the Ranger, the design similarities make sense. The Everest has a similar grille and headlight design as the Ranger, but differs for the bumper. 

Also, for an SUV comparison, the Everest has a similar size as the Ford Explorer. However, the Everest is more capable than the Explorer, particularly on the off-road front with its high ground clearance. In the teaser video, the Everest displays its off-road prowess on some rugged terrain.

For performance, the 2023 Everest will have the same engine options as the global version of the redesigned Ranger. This includes a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 diesel, a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder diesel, a 2.0-liter twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel, and a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder gasoline engine.

2023 Ford Everest debut and release date: Can you buy it in the U.S.?

The 2023 Ford Everest will debut in early 2022, with the release date likely toward the end of 2022. With the similarities between the 2023 Everest and the 2023 Ranger, Ford fuels speculation that the Everest could be released in the U.S. Is the Everest coming to America? 

While Ford didn’t close the door on this possibility, the automaker didn’t give any indication that it would change course and release the Everest in the U.S. anytime soon. The 2023 Everest will be released in Australia, the Philippines, and Thailand.
