The Most Common 2022 Kia Telluride Problems That Owners Complain About
The Kia Telluride SUV has been a hit since its release a few years back. While most drivers like the sport utility vehicle for all the features and technology, some 2022 Kia Telluride problems have surfaced. It is always a good idea to research potential issues and read reviews from other owners before deciding on a new car, truck, or sport utility vehicle.
Some of the most common Kia Telluride problems, as reported by owners
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration rates most modern cars, trucks, and SUVs like the Kia Telluride. Kia’s Telluride SUV has received five-star safety ratings since hitting the market, but it also investigates issues. Owners reported a few topics of interest on the NHTSA listing for the 2022 Kia Telluride problems.
Some of the most common Kia Telluride problems include visibility, windshield wipers, and the powertrain. Drivers report that the Kia’s windshield broke easily in many instances, making it harder to see out of. One owner noted that since purchasing the Telluride in November 2021, the windshield has cracked and required repair twice. At this time, the automaker has not addressed the windshield problems for the 2022 Kia Telluride.
Drivers also complained of the instrument cluster malfunctioning, which Kia addressed in two recalls. Kia Telluride transmission problems were common, needing replacement prematurely or malfunctioning while parked. This does not seem to be addressed in any recall, either.
The NHTSA has issued recalls for some of the Kia Telluride problems
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has multiple recalls for the 2022 Kia Telluride. One is labeled urgent due to the potential risk of a tow hitch harness fire while parked or driving. Drivers can check the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the NHTSA site to confirm if this applies to the SUV in question using NHTSA ID 22V626000.
If the Telluride has the four-pin tow hitch harness installed, debris and moisture could lead to an electric short. Kia urges drivers to park outside and away from structures until the recall is remedied.
Another recall notes that the spare tire could be the incorrect size, and there is an issue with blank instrument cluster displays. The instrument cluster display problem seemed to plague many owners, though it was temporary in many instances.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the Telluride an award.
Despite consumer comments and recall notices, the 2022 Kia Telluride has a five-star safety rating. It performed well on the front, side, and rollover tests. Kia’s 2022 Telluride also received good marks for having Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Crash Imminent Braking, and Dynamic Brake Support as standard systems.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety also found that the 2022 Kia Telluride was safe. It received the Top Safety Pick award for 2022 as long as it had the LED projector low beams. The Telluride received high marks for the overall evaluation, roof strength, and front-crash prevention.
While there are some 2022 Kia Telluride problems to be aware of, there are plenty of positives to report on the SUV. For the most part, Kia has an award-winning SUV in the Telluride. Recalls only improve the vehicle in the long run if the issue is remedied correctly.
