Companies Are Adding the Ford Maverick to Their Fleets
The automotive fleets that companies rely on have been evolving. More and more businesses are adding EVs and hybrids to their fleets, which help to increase efficiency and help to weed out aging vehicles. Recently, the Ford Maverick has garnered attention from certain companies, including Terminix, showing that this Ford small truck is ready to go to work.
Is the Ford Maverick a good work truck?
The Maverick may not have all of the capability of a full-size truck, but it is still capable of doing work. When properly equipped, this vehicle can tow up to 4,000 pounds and it offers all-wheel drive. Better yet, Ford’s small truck is legitimately affordable with a starting price tag of around $20,000. This means the Maverick can more easily fit into various budgets, especially that of a business looking for a new fleet vehicle.
In the case of this pickup, 90 units were recently purchased by the pest control company Terminix. According to Ford Authority, Terminix has ordered new Maverick hybrid trucks to be used as sales vehicles. But, in the future, it could also see use in the field. That would make the 2022 Maverick a pest-fighting truck.
Terminix has already received some Maverick trucks
Terminix has placed an order with Ford for some Maverick trucks, but the company has also already received part of the order. Apparently, the company was also looking at various EV trucks but found it may be too difficult to have these vehicles upfitted for their specific needs. EV models are ideal for driving on established routes. Especially if they can be returned for charging after a shift is complete. Still, it was determined by Terminix the Ford Maverick was the best option.
The rest of the 90 Maverick trucks are expected to arrive at some point in Q2. And at first, the trucks will be used for sales, but depending on performance, these small trucks could find themselves subject to field use.
The Maverick is not the only Blue Oval vehicle being put to work
Ford is no stranger to its vehicles being used in fleets. Recently, brands from Frito Lay to Sunbelt Rentals have been ordering Ford vehicles for work use. In fact, Sunbelt Rentals placed an order for 700 Ford F-150 Lightning models, which is Ford’s new full-size, EV truck. Ford’s cargo vans have also been fairly popular in the private sector.
In terms of the Maverick, it would not be surprising to see more businesses adding this compact truck to their fleets. Especially considering the efficiency that the hybrid model has to offer. Unfortunately, Ford has not been immune to supply chain issues. Filling orders is not the easiest thing to do right now, so businesses are being forced to wait to take delivery of their orders.
It would be nice to see more hybrid models and EVs used for business needs. And that is because these types of vehicles can help reduce fuel consumption. And that is both a win-win for companies and potentially the environment.
