Mid-size trucks are experiencing some growing popularity in recent years. And, that trend seems to be continuing as buyers begin to really consider fuel economy when making a purchase. These smaller pickups still offer the utility of a bed, and frankly, they’re just as big as full-size trucks were back in the day. Now, Chevy is capitalizing on this, with the introduction of the all-new, 2023 Chevy Colorado truck. And this pickup has a few legitimately cool features.

The 2023 Chevy Colorado has one powerful engine 

For 2023, Chevy has simplified the engines it offers to the Colorado. This truck now features a single 2.7-liter turbocharged engine. And while General Motors might be shy to admit that it’s a four-cylinder, it is a pretty potent powerplant. 

In its base form, this engine makes 237 horsepower and 259 pound-foot of torque. But, for those who want more power, that can be bumped to 310 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. If you opt for the 2023 Chevy Colorado ZR2 pickup truck, you will get 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. So, there should be enough power for just about every buyer of this pickup. 

There are now three off-road trims

According to Gear Patrol, Chevy is working to give off-road enthusiasts what they want. The 2023 Chevy Colorado has three trim levels dedicated to off-road use. And that should be fairly popular for those in search of a mid-size truck. 

The off-road trims include the Z71, Trail Boss, and ZR2. With the ZR2 being the most capable of the three. There are also going to be over 200 accessories for the Colorado when it launches. So, if you want to customize your mid-size truck, you will have that option. If you want a lifted truck, you can get up to a 3-inch lift from the factory with the 2023 Colorado. And that is something to be appreciated. 

The bed of the 2023 Colorado is functional

Although Chevy is not giving the Colorado its MultiPro tailgate, the tailgate it does have is fairly versatile. This tailgate has a 45-inch wide and 4-inch deep storage area that is also water-tight and drainable. So, next time you’re on a camping trip or at a tailgate, you should be able to use it as a cooler. 

Also notable are the 17 available tie-downs in this mid-size pickup truck’s bed. These will allow you to secure a range of different items, including toys like a motorcycle or bicycles. Additionally, the tailgate is adjustable, which means you can drive with it halfway open. 

How expensive is the 2023 Chevy Colorado?

GM has yet to release official pricing for the new Chevy Colorado. But because this truck is set to go on sale soon, pricing should be coming in a short time. With all of the new features of the 2023 Colorado, it will probably be more expensive than the outgoing model. So, keep that in mind if you plan to order one once it becomes available.
