This is the Most Affordable New Supercar to Hit the Market
Midengine Power, Chevy Styling
The release of a mid-engine Corvette has been long promised and undoubtedly overdue. In January at the Rolex 24 in Daytona, Florida Chevrolet officially debuted the new 2020 C8 Corvette, which will be the most affordable brand new supercar to hit the market.
The new 6.2L LT2 motor is a classic V8 with a lot to offer. Chevy reports that the C8 puts down 495hp and 470lb-ft of torque, though the car has been accused of under-selling and over-delivering with much more power. The new C8 hits a top speed of 194mph and does a nauseatingly quick 0 – 60 in a matter of 2.9 seconds.
The C8 offers a clean, beautiful appearance to accompany its impressive numbers. A complete redesign from previous generations, the midengine corvette still exemplifies sleek lines and aggressive styling. Chevy even went as far as hiding the door handles and trunk release to make sure that nothing will detract from the car’s striking performance. The rear hatch allows enthusiasts to see the clean engine bay and LT2 motor, which can be dressed in carbon fiber for further appearance upgrades.
Trim Levels
The C8 is available in 3 trim levels, all offered as coupes or convertibles.
The base model 1LT coupe starts at about $59,995 and goes up to match the next trim level base price with a convertible at $67,495. The base trim comes packed with a 10-speaker Bose premium sound system, 8-way power GT1 seats, a drive mode selector and comes stock with all-season tires.
The next tier 2LT coupe will be priced at $67,295 for a coupe and $74,295 for the convertible option. Along with all of the amenities of the 1LT trim, this package also offers a front-curb camera 14-speaker Bose performance sound system, heated and ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, optional GT2 seats wrapped in Napa leather, and the option to color match the interior to your exterior color of choice.
The 3LT has everything that the 2LT trim package has to offer and more. Pricing for this trim begins at $71,945 for coupe options and following suite for a higher $78,948 for the convertible option. The 3LT packages offers 13 interior color options along with the addition of a beautiful leather wrapping on the instrument panel and door, paired with suede-microfiber on the interior trim. The 3LT will come stock with Napa leather-wrapped GT2 seats that can be upgraded for Competition Sport seats.
The all-new 2020 Corvette C8 has not left us feeling disappointed. After years of waiting, this affordable supercar offers all of the luxury and speed we anticipated, with numbers are sure to impress.
Older buyers may not be as excited about the Chevrolet Corvette going mid-engine, but the way we see it, the Corvette’s finally become the supercar it always had the potential to be.
