How Much Does It Cost to Replace a Jeep Wrangler 4xe Battery?
Sometimes it can be pretty expensive to replace a hybrid battery. But is this the case with the Jeep Wrangler 4xe? It’s time to dive in and find out what happens if the Jeep Wrangler 4xe hybrid battery fails.
How much does it cost to replace the Jeep Wrangler 4xe battery?
The average cost to replace a Jeep Wrangler 4xe battery is roughly $1,919 to $1,949. According to RepairPal, this cost includes the labor for about $144 and the part cost of around $1,805.
That’s not bad considering that it costs between $3,000 to $8,000 to replace the hybrid battery in the Toyota RAV4.
But take these prices with a grain of salt. The cost of labor and parts may vary based on taxes, location, and other fees.
The Wrangler 4xe warranty covers battery and other hybrid components for the first eight years of vehicle ownership or its first 100,000 miles. Also, the battery is coated with protective materials to make it waterproof.
The rest of the warranty covers the Wrangler 4xe for the first three years or 30,000 miles and the powertrain warranty covers five years or the first 60,000 miles.
There are only a few examples of the battery failing. Some drivers have faced issues with the high voltage battery overheating. But it’s not even close to the level of batteries that fail in the Ford F-150 Hybrid.
The F-150 Hybrid is actually ranked as the least reliable truck but the Wrangler 4xe has an above average reliability score.
There was a recall due to a fire risk while the Wrangler 4xe was charging, but Jeep quickly resolved this issue with a software update. Also, Jeep is only aware of eight fires and isn’t aware of any related injuries or accidents.
If the battery fails, you can still drive the 4xe. Well, that’s if you remember to put gas in it. If the battery gets too hot, your 4xe may go into limp mode to allow you to get somewhere safe without causing more damage.
Jeep loves sneaky easter eggs, that’s why if your Wrangler 4xe enters limp mode a red turtle will appear on the dash.
