Could Cadillac Be Tesla’s Next Big Competitor?
While Tesla might have been the brand that pioneered the way for all-electric SUVs — at least for what people pay attention — they aren’t the only option on the market. Over the past few years, hybrids and plug-in hybrids have become more and more popular, and as people get more comfortable with the idea of electric cars, all-electric cars have grown in popularity as well. All-electric cars are far less common than hybrids, but more car manufacturers are stepping up to the plate to create the latest and greatest all-electric options. While BMW and Audi have already started to step up to the plate, there’s another unsuspected brand that’s making the push for all-electric. Cadillac’s new Lyriq is more than just an electric SUV, it’s a true competitor in the market and shows the manufacturers ability to adapt in a clever and striking way.
Cadillac’s new goal: all-electric
Cadillac has long been known for its luxury, but most people seem to overlook its lineup of vehicles. This year they switched it up on us, introducing the CT4-V and CT5-V in place of their standard performance-oriented models. As exciting as that was, we didn’t know that Cadillac had more tricks up its sleeve.
It was only a matter of time before big brands like Cadillac started to produce hybrid models, but the new Cadillac Lyriq is more than that. It’s a fully-electric SUV, and we weren’t expecting it to be this good. In fact, the Lyriq barely looks like a Cadillac at all, if it weren’t for a few iconic features. It has all of the iconic and sharp styling paired with high-quality materials that give the interior that true luxury feel.
A true electric competitor
The Cadillac Lyriq itself is striking and modern — or, dare I say, futuristic — and it has all of the components to compete in the all-electric category. While it is the first vehicle that Cadillac has made as an all-electric, it’s a major step in a new direction. The brand is making an effort to reinvent itself in the eyes of consumers, and the Lyriq is more than capable of doing that. This could be the future of electric and hybrid vehicles for Cadillac.
With their high-tech electric SUV, Cadillac is stepping up as Tesla’s newest competitor. A history of producing reliable vehicles as well as luxurious ones gives the brand a leg up over Tesla. Only time will show how popular the Lyriq turns out to be, but there is no doubt that it will hold its own against Tesla’s SUV options.
