It’s rare to see an automaker drop the MSRP of any model. But Mazda is doing exactly that. The Mazda 3 compact sedan and hot hatch lineup was already one of the best deals on the market. But for the 2025 model year, some trims are enjoying a $740 price cut. Hooray!

First off, the Mazda 3 is a great value. For less than the price of a new Miata, you can get a relatively sporty four-door. It’s even available as a hatchback, offering 47 cubic feet of cargo room once you drop the back seat. It is also one of the final cars around with a manual transmission option. What’s not to love?

For the 2025 model year, the automaker is will be cutting $220 off the price of the cheapest Mazda 3 MSRP. The entry-level configuration is the 2.5 S sedan. That car now starts at $25,135. The hatchback version costs a bit more than the sedan. But the 2025 hatchback will get its own price cuts, as much as $740 off for the 2.5 S trim. That brings the five-door 2.5 S down to $26,135 for 2025.

But not all Mazda 3 prices are down. Mid-trim Mazda 3 hatchbacks are up $300 for 2025. The “Preferred” trim will come up $150. All other trims appear to increase by $350.

One trim, the Select Sport, will cost the exact same as 2024 (that one comes in at $25,875 in sedan configuration). With the prices of most makes and models steadily increasing, Mazda fans will be happy to know this trim is priced the same year-over-year. In addition, Mazda is adding some features, such as Amazon Alexa assistant, to that Select Sport trim.

Obviously, none of these are huge price cuts. But we are seeing many MSRPs shooting sky high. For example, the Ford F-150 MSRP jumped $8,000 in two years. According to standard budget advice to spend 10% on transportation, 81% of Americans can’t afford any new or used cars. So it’s good to see Mazda doing its best to make its hot hatch more affordable.
