We love seeing the first glimpses of a cool new car when it actually starts delivery. The 2023 Nissan Z certainly falls into that category. Unfortunately, one excited Nissan Z customer went to a dealership in Puerto Rico only to watch his brand-new 2023 Nissan Z slide into a Ram pickup on the lot. The dealership employee was trying to hotdog in a wet parking lot and lost control.

2023 Nissan Z carnage

Nissan said the 2023 Nissan Z would release in the summer of 2022. Well, we made it. Unfortunately, the Nissan Z will take a little longer for one of the earlier customers. 

The lovely Rosewood Metallic Nissan Z was reportedly being driven across the car lot for its owner to take delivery. Before the excited owner could take possession of his new toy, the employee driving it allegedly gave the hot sports car too much throttle. Given the wet conditions seen in the video, the employee lost control and crashed the Nissan into a Ram 2500.  Check the video out here on The Drive.

How much damage was done?

The front left quarter of the Nissan Z got the business. In fact, the damage is so dramatic is almost makes it hard to believe it could have happened in a parking lot. Along with the wrecked bodywork, the front suspension will probably also need replacing. 

According to The Drive, the wrecked 2023 Nissan Z is a mid-level performance trim costing $51,015. The Drive also speculates that the brand-new Nissan is likely totaled. 

Given the freshness of the model, this is probably the first 2023 Nissan Z to be crashed. 

It’s sad, but it could’ve been worse

While all the details of the trim and spec of the wrecked Z are still unknown, we can at least rest in the fact that it wasn’t one of the limited Proto Spec models. Considering Nissan is only making 240 (clever) of them, it would hurt double to lose one, especially in such a silly way. 

2023 Nissan Z specs

The new Nissan Z is quite the little ripper. As with any cool new vehicle these days, dealers are taking every last drop of juice. Nissan Z prices are being massively inflated. Is the car cool enough to grossly overpay? 

I mean, no. It isn’t. However, it is still pretty cool. 

Car nerds around the globe were stoked to see the Z come back and updated. The revitalized Japanese classic draws its new breath from a 400-hp twin-turbocharged V6. The new Z gives drivers a choice between a nine-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual. 

While Car and Driver seemed to enjoy the Z tester and its zippy powertrain, they mentioned the suspension could still use a little tuning for anyone who really pushed the car’s limits. The turbo V6 is conservative with its fuel. Even with its snappy power, the Nissan Z still manages 25 mpg on average. 

The 2023 Nissan Z is an exciting car. It hurts to see one crash before it even got a chance to make some ruckus. Ah, well, there will be more.
