Demand for the Smaller Toyota Stout Truck Runs Rampant
People aren’t being shy about their desires for a compact Toyota pickup truck, and we don’t blame them. Having a new Ford Maverick fighter enter the market, along with the potential Ram Rampage, would be epic. Plus, the Toyota Stout could be here sooner than you think.
When will the Toyota Stout debut?
Rumors suggest that the new Toyota Stout will debut in 2024 as a 2025 model to satisfy the rampant demand for a compact Toyota truck. The 2025 Toyota Stout Hybrid could slot under the Toyota Tacoma as a more affordable option.
We know that fans are running wild with this idea, and so are Toyota dealerships. Reportedly, as Toyota leads the truck segment, dealers are turning up the pressure to stay on top by dominating the compact truck market.
Demand for the Ford Maverick Hybrid is out of this world, and Stallantis keeps teasing the Ram Rampage in America. It would be a shame for Toyota and loyal fans to miss out on the action.
Plus, the Toyota Stout is an ionic title. The Stout was incredibly popular in the 1960s, and Toyota continued offering compact options through the 1990s. These trucks are still highly sought after due to their reputation for being indestructible.
Toyota released a new teaser with a video that features a 1966 Stout 1900 model in excellent condition. It could be to reminisce over older vehicles or to indicate that the new Stout is on the way.
What do we know about the Stout truck?
The official specs for the 2025 Toyota Stout Hybrid haven’t been released. Toyota could still be in the planning stages if it even plans to follow through with bringing a smaller truck to the market.
But clues suggest that there could be gas and hybrid variants available. Also, it could share the TNGA-K platform with the Toyota RAV4, Highlander, and other mid-size vehicles. However, it could be based on the Toyota Corolla and share parts with the Corolla Cross.
RAV4 models are built in Kentucky, the Corolla is made in Mississippi, and the Corolla Cross is assembled in Alabama. That means that the new Toyota truck could be built in America beside its SUV counterpart.
The Ford Maverick is based on the Ford Escape, and the Hyundai Santa Cruz is based on the Hyundai Tucson, so perhaps Toyota could quickly reconfigure one of its popular SUVs as the Stout.
To be competitive, the Stout will need to be available with AWD, have an off-roading model, and needs to tow up to 5,000 lbs.
How much power will the Toyota Stout Hybrid have?
There are a few different ways the 2025 Toyota Stout Hybrid could go. The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors to generate 219 hp and 163 lb-ft of torque.
The Toyota Corolla Hybrid has a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that’s paired with two electric motors for 138 hp and 105 lb-ft of torque. We hope the Stout at least has the same amount of muscle as the RAV4 Hybrid.
With the Ford Maverick Hybrid, you get 162 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque. But the Maverick Hybrid can’t be paired with AWD. Also, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Toyota Stout PHEV emerges for even more electric efficiency.
