Despite High Fuel Costs, Drivers Still Plan July Fourth Fun
With one of the busiest travel weekends around the corner, drivers are gearing up for a long holiday weekend. Usually, there would be no question about taking a road trip for the weekend, but with the gas prices being as high as they are, could drivers stay off the road?
Even with gas prices being high, drivers still planning to travel
Everyone has heard about the high gas prices. Every day, there is more news about the gas prices and the possibility of them rising more. Usually, that news would deter drivers from driving, but according to a survey that Cars.com conducted, 88% of drivers are planning to road trip for their holiday weekend.
With most drivers planning to travel by car for this upcoming holiday, this is a sign that people are ready to return to normal. Drivers are looking for creative ways to enjoy this holiday weekend. In many cases, this means cutting costs in other areas. This can ensure they can have the fuel needed to get to their destination without issue.
No matter where drivers are going, they plan to get behind the wheel to get there.
How can drivers offset some of the costs?
One major way that drivers are looking to cut costs for their upcoming road trips is by looking at fuel efficiency. There are a few efficient sedans to consider if shoppers are looking for a new car for this big travel weekend. Models such as the new 2022 Nissan Leaf and 2022 Chevrolet Bolt are top picks, especially among shoppers looking for an EV. But, aside from EVs, several other hybrid and gas models are on this list.
In addition to shopping for a brand-new car, drivers can also shopping for a used model. Models like a used Toyota Prius can be a top choice with its hybrid powertrain and a surprisingly spacious cargo area. No matter the method, shoppers can sure increase efficiency if they know where to look.
In addition to shopping for a new car, there are a few other ways drivers can maximize fuel efficiency.
What other ways are drivers tackling the high gas prices?
In years past, the July Fourth travel time often came with drivers driving long distances for a big family trip. But, because of the higher fuel costs, more drivers are looking to stay closer to home for this upcoming holiday. According to the Cars survey, 68% of drivers are more than willing to “stay within 50 miles of home”. Last year, 62% of drivers were looking to get “as far from the house as possible”.
By choosing not to drive as far, drivers can save a substantial amount of money. Instead of having to fill up the gas tank two or more times, one fill-up can work for the whole trip. Despite the high prices to fill up a car, drivers are willing to eat some money to form memories with family and friends this upcoming holiday.
High gas prices can’t slow down road trips
With the excitement of the upcoming holiday, drivers are preparing to take a memorable trip and have an outstanding holiday. Drivers are putting the high gas prices in the rearview mirror and getting ready to enjoy this adventure much more.
