Now imagine waiting years for your custom-built grand tourer to arrive, only to have it wrecked by another driver.

According to Autoevolution, that’s precisely what happened to Christian Constantin, a well-known Ferrari collector, and enthusiast. While plenty of the details surrounding this crash are still under investigation, a couple of critical elements likely contributed to this crash.

If you manage to get an order slot for a Ferrari 812 Superfast, there’s still the issue of the car’s price. That’s because this Italian supercar has a base price of $335,000. However, once you factor in optional extras, that number could easily climb up past $400,000. In fact, even used examples listed on duPont Registry often sell for that much.

For that sum, you get Ferrari’s infamous 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 which develops 789 hp and 530 lb-ft. All of that power goes to the rear wheels exclusively via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

While the supercar’s name boasts outright speed, the carmaker designed it to be a grand tourer. This comes largely due to its front-engined layout, which allows for a larger cabin and greater storage space for longer journeys.

As mentioned earlier, the details surrounding this Ferrari 812 Superfast crash are scarce. However, thanks to Autoevolution, we know this crash took place on a mountain road in Switzerland. Given the Superfast’s status as a supercar, you’d think speed was the main cause of this accident. In fact, it was, but not by the Ferrari driver. That’s because Autoevolution reports that a drunk driver in a Peugeot slammed into the 812.

Thankfully, both drivers managed to walk away with minor injuries. However, it is safe to say that the supercar is completely dead. From the images, it seems at least one of its rear wheels is missing completely. Additionally, the crash completely ripped off the rear bumper. If we had to guess, the Peugeot likely caught the supercar’s rear corner, sending it into a spin. Regardless, this car is likely a total loss.
