One clue as to why people love the Chevy Equinox includes its price. You can head off the lot in a brand new 2020 model for about $23k. This is a lower price than the Nissan Rogue and Honda CR-V.
The Equinox also provides savings at the fuel pump by providing an exceptional average of 28 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway. This fuel efficiency sets the Chevy Equinox ahead of the compact SUV game.
We wonder exactly how the Equinox achieves its high fuel efficiency, but we can determine that it’s not for lack of engine power. The standard engine is a turbocharged 1.5-L four-cylinder engine with an output of 170 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque.
This is more powerful than the Nissan Kicks, and on par with the CR-V. If you want more power with your Equinox, you can select a higher trim model with the 2.0-L turbo four-cylinder engine that provides 252 HP and 260 lb-ft torque.
The 1.5-L engine can tow up to 1,500 lb, which is the same as the CR-V and the 2.0-L engine can tow up to 3,500 lb.

The Chevy Equinox comes on 17” wheels, which are pretty good for handling and control. You can also upgrade to 19” wheels on other trim options. With a ground clearance of 7.6,” this SUV can maneuver around the city and down a few trails.
The Equinox is known for having large spacious seats and the ability to fit up to five adults. It also provides a smooth ride, thanks to it’s MacPherson front suspension.
One complaint about the Equinox involves the fact that it has less cargo space than other compact SUVs. However, there is 29.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and 63.9 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats folded down.
