What’s the Difference Between a 2022 Ford Edge ST-Line and ST?
If you’re interested in buying a 2022 Ford Edge, there are many options. Within the five-trim lineup, two of the models have similar names. Is it better to buy an Edge ST-Line or ST version of the midsize SUV? What’s the difference between the two trim levels? Only a few thousand dollars separate the two Edges, but is one significantly better than the other? Here’s the difference between a 2022 Ford Edge ST-Line and ST.
What comes with a 2022 Ford Edge ST-Line?
According to Edmunds, the Ford Edge ST-Line is the third cheapest model in the lineup. Starting at $44,505, it’s only more expensive than the SE and SEL trims. Moreover, it comes with basically everything included with an SEL. For example, simulated leather upholstery, heated seats, and a Ford SecuriCode entry keypad. However, the ST-Line gets some sportier design details and extra features.
For example, the exterior trim and fascias are black. Next, the bumpers and lower-cladding turn body color instead of the standard chrome. Lastly, the wheels turn black and grow to 20-inches, slightly larger than the standard 18-inch units. Furthermore, the ST-Line comes with ActiveX faux leather seats, red accent interior stitching, and the Convenience package is standard.
With the Convenience package, owners gain access to more modern technology. The ST-Line comes with things like a 110-volt power outlet, a security alarm, a power liftgate, remote start, and a wireless charging pad.
Is the Edge ST better?
Just a little more expensive than the Edge ST-Line is the range-topping ST. The starting MSRP is $47,705 after destination and other fees. Does Ford make it worth the additional $3,000? First and most importantly, the ST is the only Edge to come with a standard turbocharged V6 engine. Every other version of the midsize SUV has a four-cylinder under the hood. However, that’s not all it comes with to add bang for your buck.
Next, 20-inch black painted wheels, a sport suspension, and black/body-colored exterior trim are standard. In addition, the interior sport seats are emboldened by silver stitching with leather and suede-like upholstery. Finally, every Edge ST gets a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium audio system.
With the Edge ST, buyers also get a few more options. First, the ST Performance Brake package is available. With this package, owners get 21-inch gloss-black wheels, larger brakes with red-painted calipers and performance pads, improved cooling, and summer tires. You can also choose the High package, which is similar to the Titanium model’s Lux package. It has Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+, ventilated front seats, heated front seats, a front-facing camera, and an automated parking system.
Is the Edge ST-Line or ST better?
Depending on what you require in a midsize SUV, the ST is better. Not only is it fully loaded, but it also comes with a standard turbocharged V6. For buyers looking to get the best performance version of the Ford Edge, it’s undoubtedly the ST. However, the ST-Line is an excellent alternative to an upgraded SEL. It has all the same features, plus more, including a sportier design. Once you’re spending all that on an ST-Line trim level, you’re better off upgrading all the way to the full-loaded 2022 Ford Edge ST.
